Mary McLeod Bethune Scholarship: $1,000 annually. Eligibility: Harlem resident of African descent, 80 GPA, active in extra-curricular participation or has a part-time job, admitted to a four year college program. Applications from 1W2. Deadline: April 15.

Financial Service Centers of New York Young Leaders in Our Community Scholarships: $4,000 (5), $2,000 (5), $500 (5), grand prize $7,500 (1). Eligibility: academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, 50 hours of volunteer service each year of high school. 250 word essay required. Applications from 1W2. Deadline: March 21.

Seven Roses Legacy Foundation: Three(3) book scholarships in the amounts of $1,000, $750, and $500. Application plus four double-spaced typed page essay. Essay topics and applications from 1W2. Deadline: March 31.

Brooklyn Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Scholarships: $1,000-$2,000 (renewable). Eligibility: Residents of Brooklyn. African-American female seniors. Also, Shirley Chisholm Scholarship for a Brooklyn resident enrolled at Brooklyn college with a major in Women Studies or Political Science. Beverly Vance Memorial Scholarship for student seeking a four year degree majoring in Communications, Speech, Drama, or related field. Application forms in 1W2. Deadline: April 15.

Abercrombie & Fitch Global Diversity & Leadership Scholar Awards: $1,000 (10). Two essays required. Essay topics and application form from 1W2. Deadline April 15.

Kathleen Kiernan Memorial Scholarship: $5,000 award. Eligibility: Staten Island resident, demonstration of service to his/her school and community, and 83 GPA.

Brooklyn Tech can nominate two students. Notify Mr. Ludwig in 1W2 if you are interested by last week of March.

Robert G. Porter Scholars Program (AFT): Four (4) $8,000 scholarships for seniors who are dependents of AFT members who are on the active rolls for at least one year. The senior should be pursuing a career in labor, education, health care or government service. Application to be postmarked by March 31.
