POSITION: ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER/City of Cuba Police DepartmentFull time 40 hours per week, including some weekend hoursDuties will be animal control and shelter operations, including but not limited to:Animal Control: Responding to animal related matters, i.e., capture and care of the animals within city limits. Setting and checking traps for wildlife catch and release. Investigate and enforce animal violations and issue citations in accordance with City of Cuba ordinances. Follow state and city protocol for bite cases and vicious dog attacks including dog bite quarantine and state mandated hold.Must be available on-call after hours to respond to the scene when assistance is needed from Cuba Police department, sheriff department and Highway Patrol with animal situations.Prepare written reports and appear in appear in court when necessary for ordinance violations. Prepare written reports and other duties as assigned. Intake paperwork and procedures, such as weighing, worming, microchip scanning, photographing and posting to our Facebook page, etc.Adoption/Return to Owner/transfer regulations and paperwork according to state guidelines, review adopter applications and take adoption photo and post to our FB page.Animal Care:Cleaning indoor/outdoor kennels and cat cages daily, feeding each animal, walking each dog not less than 3 times daily.Taking animals to veterinary appointment for rabies vaccinations or medical issues when necessary and following medical treatment protocols.Bathing, socializing and spending time with the animals to improve the chance of adoption.Basic:Assisting customers, answering questions via face to face or by telephone.Keeping shelter clean; and maintained i.e. sweeping, mopping/disinfecting and laundry per shelter procedures.Outdoor cleanup, picking up trash and feces, etc.Picking up deceased animals within city limits and disposing of them per policy.REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid State of MO Drivers License, must be a US citizen with the ability to read, write and speak the English language, have no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories, have no medical allergies to animals, animal hair, dander or commonly used cleaning products. Must be able to occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds and be able to stand or walk distances, climb, stoop, kneel, crawl as needed in the standard operation procedures. ................
