Welcome Message

We would like to extend the warm hand of friendship by introducing this newsletter that is tailored for our friends in the global media.

At the time of writing, as organisers of the IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019, we are reflecting on a hugely successful test event that gave us the opportunity to assess our state of preparedness.

And we can report that we passed the challenge by hosting a glorious 23rd edition of the Asian Athletics Championships in Doha from 21 to 24 April.

The event enabled us to put all of our areas of operation to the test, and of particular interest to you will be the state-of-the-art media facilities and services that were called into action.

After months of meticulous planning, our international team was finally able to activate the accreditation system, media centre facilities, media tribunes, photographic locations, transport system, news information service and volunteers in an event-time working environment.

While we are satisfied with our performance and delivery in servicing a healthy international media corps of over 100 representatives, many of whom travelled to Qatar from overseas, it is important that we continue to strive for perfection.

So, we have listened to their feedback and we will learn from their experiences as we continue to develop all aspects of our operations so that when more than 2700 accredited media personnel arrive from over 80 countries in September, you can expect nothing but the very best in service, facilities and hospitality.

Hundreds of millions of fans from across the world will rely on your work to follow the world-class athletics action and, understanding your vital role in sharing the news, we remain committed to delivering the very best media facilities and services through our highly skilled and experienced media team.
