The Department of Labor and Employment is pleased to release the 2020 Edition of the Handbook on Workers' Statutory Monetary Benefits.

This edition contains provisions of Republic Act No. 11 210 otherwise known as the "105-Day Expanded Maternity Leave Law". The legislation affirms the importance of women in nation building enshrined in the 1987 Constitution. Under this new law, a woman employee shall enjoy an increased number of maternity leave, salary differential, an option to allocate a portion to the child's father or alternate caregiver, and an extension of the maternity leave when warranted.

Moreover, included herein is the recently enacted Republic Act No. 11360 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations mandating that 100% of service charges collected by establishments be given to all covered employees.

Similar to our previous works, we invested every effort to incorporate all updates on labor standards and developments on labor laws, rules and regulations. Hence, in this edition, we updated the applicable minimum wage for kasambahay from Php2,500.00 to Php4,500.00; and from Php3,500.00 to Php5,000.00, in chartered cities and first-class municipalities and National Capital Region, respect ively.

We hope that this Handbook will serve as a ready and practical reference in maintaining increased awareness on workers' and employers' rights and responsibilities, among others, for employees, employers, as well as students, practitioners and the general public.

Faced with advances in the world of work resulting to various emerging employment issues, we remain steadfast in making our policies and programs suitable to the demands of the times. We commit to be dedicated in promptly addressing violations of labor laws to maintain decent and productive employment opportunities to all Filipino workers in the country.

We sincerely offer this humble work to both workers and employers with the hope of fostering a culture of voluntary compliance with labor laws in all workplaces.

Mabuhay po tayong lahat!

SILVESTRE H. BELLO III

Secretary
