• 3-ringed binder with lined paper or a notebook

• Pens/Pencils/Highlighters (if using pens, please have white-out with you)

• Protractor (you can buy one at the dollar store)

• Scientific Calculator *required*

If you have a graphing calculator, these will work great for this class

If you are purchasing a calculator, please do so ASAP

They can be purchased at any dollar store, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Staples, etc.

Quarterly Grade Average:

Summative Assessments 60% Formative Assessments 40%

Unit Tests/Projects 40% Quizzes 25%

Midterm/Final Exams 20% Assignments 15%

Exam: A cumulative exam will be given each quarter calculating 20% of the grade for the course.  

Final Grade: Per Beaufort County School District’s Policy each quarter is worth 50%.

Discipline Policy: Disciplinary rules are outlined in the student handbook. Students will be verbally warned the first time that a rule is broken. The parent(s) will be called if the behavior persists. A referral will be written as a last resort or for any major infraction.

Tardy Policy: Students must be IN the classroom and in full uniform attire before the tardy bell rings. Any student not in by this time, will be assigned a referral as outlined in the student handbook. Only an administrator or I may excuse you from class, NO EXCEPTIONS!

Attendance Policy: More than 5 unexcused absences in a semester will be grounds for denial of credit. Attendance excuses MUST be handed in within one calendar month to count. NO EXCUSES will be accepted after that. (school-wide policy)

Classroom Expectations: Students are to follow ALL school rules as outlined in the student handbook in your agenda books. My rules include:

1. Students are to be in class before the tardy bell rings.

2. Students are to be prepared each day with the necessary materials. This includes completion of ALL homework assignments.

3. All assignments are to be turned in before the tardy bell.

4. Do not converse without permission.

5. Treat everyone with consideration and respect. Be very careful with your language, NO cruelty to others will be tolerated.

Tutoring: I expect all students to attend tutoring at some point during the semester. Tutoring is scheduled during ILT each day and all students must inform their teacher before attending.

If I ask any student to attend tutoring, and you choose not to attend, then your parent/guardian is notified by a phone call.

Math Department Make-Up and Zero Policy

Absences:

Daily Assignments: All required assignments will be turned in the day you return to school. It is your responsibility to hand them in they may not be requested. All assignments missed will be made up and turned in according to attendance policy.

Quizzes and Tests: You must arrange to make-up a quiz or test with your instructor.

Students who miss test and quiz days, should be prepared to complete the assessment

the day they return to class, according to the attendance policy.

Midterm/Final Exams: These exams are mandatory on the date scheduled and any absence MUST be approved by the instructor.

Make-Up and Zero Policy: Assignments are to be handed in the day they are due. Even if you are absent, a zero will be placed in the grade book until assignments are completed and the absence is EXCUSED with the attendance office. All zeros received for missed assignments must be made up no later than the day of the unit test. All work MUST be shown for credit.

• One class period late a deduction of 10% will be taken

• Up to three class periods late from the due date a deduction of 20% will be taken

• Any make-up work completed after three class periods, must be completed

➢ in tutoring before or after school with your math instructor and a deduction of 30% will be taken OR

➢ without attending tutoring a deduction of 40% will be taken

• Once grades are complete for a quarter a student may not make-up any zeros

• Unit Repair (within a quarter) on Edgenuity and Test Retake is available at teacher discretion. Students must schedule the recovery within one week of receiving results of unit test. See Retake Contract.

• Credit recovery will be available during the spring semester/summer school for any student who earns a 50-59 for the course.

Any possible Bonus assignments are ONLY available for students with NO ZEROS!
