JOB OVERVIEW:Responsible for direct client services after the occurrence of a domestic violence incident.? Works primarily with law enforcement, community victim service providers, and teams of volunteer, interns, and staff members to provide victim services on a 24-hour a day basis. Manages the SPAN Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART).DUTIES:Available by pager weekdays between 6am and 6pm or other hours as necessary, to respond to police requests for emergency response and advocacy to victims of domestic violence. Maintains a 24-hr on-call schedule for day, evening, and weekend DART shifts for volunteers, staff, and interns.Provides support for volunteers, staff, and interns regarding response strategies. Advocates on behalf of survivors and assists in civil and criminal matters in the legal system. Follows up with urgent or “unable to contact” cases from the previous day and night shifts by reviewing intakes, police reports, and returning client calls. Provides intervention for female-identified and LGBTQ defendants at the Boulder County Jail.Works closely with liaisons in Boulder County and Broomfield County’s police departments to support effective responses in domestic violence cases. Coordinates SPAN’s advocacy work within Boulder County Jail.Supports Advocacy Director in providing regular briefings at police departments in Boulder and Broomfield Counties.Responsible for all paperwork flow for DART services.Facilitates monthly meetings for DART volunteer advocates. Provides case reviews for volunteer advocates. Completes written evaluations for officers and/or law enforcement liaisons, as appropriate. Completes all necessary record keeping, including monthly reports, timesheets, and monthly statistics.Participates/facilitates in tri-annual trainings of new staff, interns and volunteers.Participates in staff meetings, team meetings, volunteer meetings, assigned committee/work-group meetings, and regular supervision with Advocacy Director.Maintains DART equipment. Assists in trainings to community groups, immigrant community groups, law enforcement and justice system personnel, regarding legal advocacy, emergency response, and other relevant issues for domestic violence survivors. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Advocacy Director.Supervised by the Advocacy Director. Supports an organizational environment based in respect, the utilization of ethical communication, and adherence to the organization’s non-negotiables.QUALIFICATIONS:? B.A. in human services or equivalent experience.Spanish language proficiency required.Experience working with and advocating for victims of crime.Experience working with volunteers and community organizing.Experience in public speaking.Knowledge of the civil, criminal legal system.Knowledge of domestic violence and of racial, class, and sexual orientation issues.Able to work independently; effective problem solving skills; excellent written and oral communication skills.
