Making Positive Statements about others

Making Positive Statements about others

1. Try to notice and find out positive things or events about others

a. Think of things you’ve heard them do or seen them do

b. By noticing the positive things more than your frustrations about people, it helps you be happier.

2. Use a clear, and enthusiastic tone of voice

a. Make it sound like you care!

b. Be a cheerleader for everyone’s accomplishments

3. Praise a specific trait or ability of the other person, or congratulate him or her on a recent accomplishment

a. What specifically did you think they did well?

4. Don’t say anything that would invalidate your compliment, such as “it’s about time…”

a. If you do this, is as if you never said anything positive.

5. Practice on others and you may be surprised that it will eventually come back to you!!!
