The Lord Is in This Place

His Way - October 16, 2018

“Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, ‘Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it’” (Genesis 28:16).

1. Where do you go to be refreshed and have your needs met? (Most of the time you are probably giving, serving,

carrying, cleaning, fixing, wiping. . .)

2. Does the following feel like a “pat answer” to you (pat answer: a quick, easy answer; a simplified or evasive answer):

Have you ever felt forgotten by God? Do you feel invisible? Does God seem to be blessing everyone except you? Do your expectations of God seem to meet with cold indifference from Him? If your answer is “yes,” then rejoice, because you are at the edge of a miracle! You are on the verge of a breakthrough! The door to your destiny is about to swing open!

3. “I don’t care” doesn’t really work out in the long run. Hardness of heart is the great enemy of love since everything

depends on receptivity and openness.

4. God wants to heal the ancient wounds . . . in the places you don’t even know.

5. Focusing on God’s goodness really does work wonders. Lift up your eyes. Watch and look for God. Where?!

• Jacob found a door to Heaven through a dream. Other portholes may include: The passageway of being thankful; the window of prayer; the transporter beam of worship; seeing beauty in rose, a rainbow, a soap bubble, a bird’s song, the smell of chocolate . . .

“Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels

of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man” (Jesus Christ, John 1:51).

6. Battle the unbelief of impatience by using the promises of God to persuade your heart that God’s timing and God’s

guidance and God’s sovereignty are going to take any frustrated, boxed in, unproductive situation and bring a sur-

prising encounter with Him into it. There will come a blessing, a strength, a vindication, a Jacob-encounter for you!

As It Is (Hillsong) “Whether now or then, Death is not my end, I know heaven waits for me, Though the road seems long, I’ll never walk alone, I’ve got all I need to sing, I know You love me, I know You found me, I know You saved me, And Your grace will never fail me, And while I’m waiting, I’m not waiting, I know heaven lives in me. Should I suffer long, This is not my home, I know heaven waits for me, Though the night is dark, Heaven owns my heart, I’ve got all I need to sing, So I will sing like I will there, In the fearless light of glory, Where the darkness cannot find me, And Your face is all I see, I will sing like a man, With no sickness in my body, Like no prison walls can hold me, I will sing like I am free, I’ll sing holy holy, My heart cries holy, As it is in heaven, It is in me, We’ll sing holy holy. The earth cries holy, As it is in heaven, So let it be.”

7. Even a rock pillow, a narrow escape from a brother who hates you, and a guilty conscious . . . nothing can separate

you from God’s initiating grace!

“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there;

if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me. If I say, ‘Surely the darkness shall

fall on me,’ even the night shall be light about me; indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, but the night

shines as the day; the darkness and the light are both alike to You” (Psalm 139:7-12).
