ANA Worlds Fair of Money? August 17, 2019

YOUNG COLLECTORS CORNER ? WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN As the host club of the 2019 World's Fair of Money? the annual American Numismatic Association (ANA) convention, the Chicago Coin Club assists in the promotion of the Young Collectors Corner ? Workshop for Children. This event helps in the introduction and continued education of youth aged 5 ? 17 to the subject of Numismatics, the study or collection of coins, currency, medals, tokens and related objects.

This event which is managed by certified counselors allows for a wide education about the subject and includes all the requirements for Scouts to earn the BSA Coin Collecting Merit Badge or the GSA FWM patch. We are pleased to provide this information to local scout troups, schools and youth organizations in the hopes of assisting Scouts with badge requirements and other youth with an introduction to a cool hobby. The "Scouting at the ANA" badge and segment can also be earned during this event which is a 5- 6 step treasure hunt on the coin bourse and convention floor.

Youth attending this event can earn prizes, coins currency and receive a Red Book? the Guide Book of United States Coins courtesy of Whitman Publishing. We encourage interested youth to have their parents or guardian to pre-register them for this event. The event will be held at the Rosemont IL Donald E Stevenson convention center on Saturday morning August 17, 2019 from 8:30am ? 11:30 am. The cost is free to attend. ANA WORLDS FAIR OF MONEY? CONVENTION PAGE OPPORTUNITY In addition to the Youth event the ANA also invites youth aged 13 ? 21 to become Pages who assist coin dealers during the World's Fair of Money? show hours on August 13 ? 17, 2019. Pages assist in various tasks for the show's dealers including coffee and food runs, brochure distribution, display case cleaning and more. Youth interested in becoming a Page should have their parent/guardian complete the attached Page Application and return it directly to the American Numismatic Association. Pages must be or become members of the ANA. For information on youth memberships visit Pages are a volunteer position but typically earn or receive tips from dealers. Pages can volunteer for any number of days during the convention.

We hope you will promote these opportunities to youth that may be interested in the hobby of coin collecting and scouts interested in earning related badges.

SCOUTS TO EARN A UNIQUE PATCH

August 13 - 17, 2019, Donald E Stevenson Convention Center, Rosemont, IL

Scouts can earn a unique "Scouting at the ANA" patch and 2019 segment by participating in activities at the 2019 American Numismatic Association World's Fair of Money? Show (WFOM).

FREE WFOM ADMISSION to Scouts (Boys, Girls and Cubs) in uniform, and their adult leaders.

Scouts (and adult leaders in uniform) can earn the patch and Chicago 2019 segment by completing the requirements on any day of the show. (This activity patch is separate from the Coin Collecting Merit Badge.) Scouts report to the Chicago Coin Club booth (CCC) # 1663 or Illinois Numismatic Association (ILNA) # tba table to demonstrate completion of the requirements. One patch and segment per Scout.

PROGRAM APPROVED by the Pathways to Adventure Council of the BSA.

REQUIREMENTS: 1. Perform ONE of the following and describe the most interesting item you saw: a. The ANA Museum Booth #1837on the bourse floor b. The U.S Department of the Treasury booth #1825 2. Perform ONE of the following: a. Complete the Treasure Trivia Game ? Start at CCC booth #1663 or CSNS booth #1667 b. Attend a "Money Talks" presentation c. Attend a Coin Collecting 101 program 3. Visit at least ONE international mint in booth #'s 1025-1032 or 1125 ? 1132 and describe the most interesting item you saw at the booth. 4. Perform at least ONE of the following: a. Visit the Competitive and Non-Competitive Exhibits in Booth 300 and describe the contents of one exhibit. b. While in the Exhibit Area, vote for the People's Choice Award. 5. Learn the steps necessary to become a Young Numismatist member of the American Numismatic Association and the programs available to YNs. (Hint the folks at ANA booth # 1200 can help you with this.) 6. Learn the steps necessary to join one of the coin clubs near your home; learn when and where the club meets. 7. Just for fun be sure to stop by the KIDSZONE booth # 1841 for some added fun and games.

Come join us for our YOUNG COLLECTORS CORNER PROGRAM at the ANAs

Worlds Fair of Money Show in Rosemont, IL! We will be exploring the wonderful world of coin collecting at its most basic levels, to help our Young Numismatists (YNs) learn all about the hobby of numismatics. We will review some basic information about:

? What is money? ? Coin identification, including the parts of a coin and banknotes. ? How coins and banknotes are made. ? Requirements necessary for Scouts to earn their

Coin Collecting Merit Badge or FWM Patch* ? Various ANA Programs available to Young Numismatists.

INFORMATION AND RULES FOR ANA CONVENTION PAGES

Young Numismatists who are members of the ANA and/or the host club will be given first consideration to page. All non-members will be alternates and used on an as-needed basis.

Pages must abide by the following requirements:

1. Register intent to be a page with the ANA Convention Department prior to the convention.

2. Be at least 13 years of age and no older than 22 years of age.

3. Report to the Page Chairperson or his/her designee each shift before starting and when ending work. Report to the registration area during set up day or the Page table in or near the bourse once the convention is open.

4. Wear a photo ID at all times on the bourse floor.

5. Wear official ANA vest when working. Turn in the page vest daily to the Page Chairperson or his/her designee as soon as the work shift is completed. Do not leave the bourse floor wearing a page uniform.

6. Purchase food only at the convention center concession stands.

7. Charge no more than the actual cost for food and beverage. It is understood that pages may be given tips for their services, but do not ask for tips.

8. Be proficient at making change.

9. Be polite at all times.

10. Turn in all supplies provided by ANA at the end of each shift. ANA will supply paper towels, glass cleaner, pencils or pens and paper to take orders. Menus will be provided if available.

11. Do not purchase alcoholic beverages or cigarettes at anytime.

12. Do not pass out brochures or flyers without approval from the Page Chairperson or ANA staff.

13. Place flyers at dealer booths as directed by Conventions Director and Page Chairperson. Failure to do so will result in dismissal from bourse floor.

14. Do not pass out brochures or flyers at the entrance to the bourse floor.
