Cookies can be dropped off on Friday, December 11th at KCC during office hours (9:00 – 3:00pm) or from 8:30 - 10:00am Saturday, December 12th during the Men’s Group and SOAM breakfast. The meeting will be at 8:30am at KCC with the women’s group preparing the breakfast and assembling the plates for the Cookie Sale. All are welcome!GIVING TREEKCC is continuing its tradition of working with the Salvation Army to provide Christmas gifts for local low income families. Our church has undertaken the challenge of buying for seven families this holiday season. The tags with each family member’s wish list are now available outside the church office. Gifts should be wrapped with the tag attached to the outside and returned to church by December 6th. POINSETTIASOrder envelopes are available in the west side entryway of church for Christmas poinsettias that will help decorate our sanctuary during the Advent season. Cost will be $8 each. Completed orders can be left at the office, mailed in to church, or phoned/emailed in. Please place orders by December 15th. Checks should be made out to Kawkawlin Community Church. Poinsettias can be taken home immediately following the Christmas Eve service.CHRISTMAS BASKETSWe are now collecting food items for the Christmas baskets that the Deacons prepare for families in our area. A total of 30 baskets are going out for Thanksgiving and more than that will be made for Christmas. The Thanksgiving baskets will use up all the food that has presently been donated, much more will be needed for Christmas. With worship service being virtual, it is more of a challenge for our congregation to donate. The board with needed food items is set up in the entryway outside of the office. You are welcome to come in during office hours to drop off donations and see which food cards are remaining. If you know of a family that would benefit from a food basket this holiday season, please contact the Church Office at 684-5550.ONLINE SERVICE AND BIBLE STUDYWorship service will continue to be virtual for the next two Sundays, November 29th and December 6th. We hope to return to in-person worship on December 13th. The church is open during the week with our regular office hours (9:00am – 3:00pm). Outreach items such as Giving Tree tags and the Christmas basket food item board, plus the poinsettia order forms and the Cookie Sale sign-up sheet, are available in the foyer so it is still possible to participate while limiting your risk of exposure. You may also call or email the office to choose tags/cards.STOCKINGS FOR SOLDIERSThank you to all who picked up a stocking and stuffed it with gifts for a soldier. There were 18 stockings returned to church, your generosity is sure to be appreciated by a military member far from home this Christmas. How sweet the soundThat saved a wretch like me!I once was lost, but now am found; Was blind, but now I see.’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appearThe hour I first believed.Through many dangers, toils, and snares,I have already come;’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,And grace will lead me home. The Lord has promised good to me,His Word my hope secures; He will my Shield and Portion be,As long as life endures. When we’ve been there ten thousand years,Bright shining as the sun,We’ve no less days to sing God’s praiseThan when we’d first begunThe Power of the CrossOh, to see the dawnOf the darkest dayChrist on the road to CalvaryTried by sinful menTorn and beaten, thenNailed to a cross of woodThis, the pow'r of the crossChrist became sin for usTook the blame, bore the wrathWe stand forgiven at the crossOh, to see the painWritten on Your faceBearing the awesome weight of sinEv'ry bitter thoughtEv'ry evil deedCrowning Your bloodstained browThis, the pow'r of the crossChrist became sin for usTook the blame, bore the wrathWe stand forgiven at the crossNow the daylight fleesNow the ground beneathQuakes as its Maker bows His headCurtain torn in twoDead are raised to life"Finished!" the vict'ry cryThis, the pow'r of the crossChrist became sin for usTook the blame, bore the wrathWe stand forgiven at the crossOh, to see my nameWritten in the woundsFor through Your suffering I am freeDeath is crushed to deathLife is mine to liveWon through Your selfless loveThis, the pow'r of the crossSon of God, slain for usWhat a love! What a cost!We stand forgiven at the crossWe Proclaim and Respond to God’s WordBased on Matthew 22:36-40 (Responsive)“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”Reading – Matthew 7:1-12 (pg. 965 in ESV Bibles)“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.“Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.Proclamation of the Living WordSermon “Love Over Judgement” Matthew 7:1-12Prayers of the CommunityThe Lord’s Prayer (in unison using “debts”)Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done,on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
