HOW TO CHOOSE A LOW COST COUNSELING CENTER William Doverspike, Ph.D. 770-913-0506

When considering low cost counseling, choose a counseling center associated with either a community service board (CSB) or a training facility such as a public or private university. CSBs receive government funding that provides some services for people who are indigent or suffering from severe mental illness, whereas some universities have counseling centers for students and sometimes for the general public. University training centers often have sliding scales, which may range anywhere from $10.00 to $75.00 per session. These services are much more affordable than with private practitioners because training programs have services provided by students working under the supervision of licensed supervisors. The following list (in alphabetical order) is not exhaustive, but simply includes resources.
