Proposed 2001-2002 Meeting Plan

September

Either one of the following two talks shall be coordinated:

Superconductive Limiters & HVDC talk by Rich Bucci shall be coordinated by Edward Davis and Cathy Kirchberger.

A tour of the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory of Princeton NJ shall be arranged by Alex Illic. GFDL has an available website at:

October

The remainder of the HVDC talk by Rich Bucci or the GFDL tour shall be held.

November

A tour of one of the following options shall be planned:

• Okonite Cable Factory on Rt. 1 in Edison (Edward Davis shall investigate this through his contact with Steve Tsombaris.)

• Ford Motor Assembly plant on Rt. 1 in Edison. Edward Davis or Cathy Kirchberger shall call to arrange this tour at (732)632-5306. Ford shall be asked if they can discuss hybrid cars during the tour.

• Princeton Co-Gen (Alex Illic suggested repeating this tour held about 3 years ago.)

December

A tour of a local Server farm would be of great interest. The computer society of the IEEE shall be contacted to determine if they know of any such facility or if they have interest in holding a joint meeting on the topic. Alex Illic shall make contact with a member of the computer society.

January

A linear induction train is being constructed from Long Island to NewYork by Bechtel for the LIRR. Iwan Santoso will investigate finding a speaker on this topic.

February

We shall plan a joint meeting with the College of New Jersey. An interesting topic would be wind mills. Iwan Santoso, Edward Davis and Cathy Kirchberger will look into finding further information on the topic.

March

A tour of one of the following options shall be planned:

• Building Automation System tour of the Pharmaceutical Lab on Ridge Rd. (Alex Illic will pursue this topic.)

• The Dow Jones Plant showing the printing of the Wall Street Journal. Brad Radimer shall pursue this topic.

• Electro Photo Voltaics Facility tour with Alan Delahoy. (Cathy Kirchberger can followup with Alan Delahoy for this.)

April

There is a Naval Research Facility located on Rt. 295 near the Cherry Hill Area. An article in the New York Times this past year sparked the idea of a tour of the facility. Both Tony Lopez-Lopez and Iwan Santoso will look into finding further information on a possible tour.

May

A meeting on Deregulation shall be arranged with a representative of NERC as the speaker. New Jersey may have determined their rules for regulation by this time of the year.
