The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 114.75 points, or 0.42%, to 27,462.11, while the NASDAQ composite climbed 46.80 points, or 0.56%, to 8,433.20.

US stock benchmarks climbed to all-time highs as trade optimism fuelled demand for risky assets.

China is reviewing locations in the US where President Xi Jinping would be willing to meet with Donald Trump to sign the first phase of a trade deal between the world's two largest economies, according to people who familiar with the plans.

China's offshore renminbi strengthened by as much as 0.27% to 7.0227 per US dollar yesterday, at one point breaking through its 100-day moving average for the first time since May.

US Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis president Neel Kashkari said that he is "comfortable" with where the Federal Open Market Committee has set policy following its third interest rate cut of the year last week. He agreed that it should be on pause for a while.

The British pound broadly slipped yesterday amid concerns about the UK general election and a possible squeeze on Conservative Party majority prospects by the Brexit Party. The Bank of England will hold a monetary policy meeting on Thursday.

The Markit eurozone manufacturing index climbed from 45.7 in September to 45.9 in October, better than the market expectation.

The Reserve Bank of Australia will deliver its monetary policy announcement this morning. It is generally expected that the interest rate will be kept unchanged.

The New Zealand dollar surged by 0.6% to as high as US$0.6466 yesterday, the highest level since 14th August. New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern said that New Zealand and China have successfully concluded talks to upgrade their free-trade agreement.
