QUICK START GUIDE: ONENOTE 2016

OneNote is a digital notebook available with Office 365. It lets you create, edit and organize notes really easily. You can access them from anywhere, there's even a free OneNote app for all of your preferred devices to stay in sync wherever you go.

Change your Notebook's name

If you wish to change the name of your Notebook, right-click on it and select Properties. Now you can change the name, the location where it is saved (it is by default saved on your UNITAR OneDrive) and you can even change your Notebook's cover color!

Your work is saved automatically!

OneNote automatically saves all of your changes as you work ? so you never have to. Even when you close the app or your PC goes to sleep, your notes are always saved, so you can continue right where you left off.

Introducing OneNote 2016

OneNote is organized as a notebook. You can create as many notebooks you wish. Inside each notebook, information is organized in sections with pages. You can add sections and pages, you'll never run out of paper.

Accessing OneNote

1. Click on the Search Windows icon from your bottom toolbar and write OneNote

2. Select OneNote2016 from the proposed items

3. A new Notebook opens with YourName @ OneDrive ? UNITAR

Taking Notes

4. A first section is already created: Quick Notes, just click on the + to create a new section

5. Type anywhere on the page, and start taking notes.

6. To add more pages to your section, click on + Add Pages from the right pane.

7. OneNote lets you tag your notes to visually prioritize or categorize them. From the Home tab, select the appropriate tag. (Tags are searchable)

8. From the Insert tab, you can add tables, spreadsheets, documents, screen clipping and even audio and video recordings.

9. If you are more visual, select draw to created drawings on your notes.

Getting more with OneNote 2016

Take your meeting notes with OneNote

OneNote 2016 has a variety of options that will help with note taking. Discover some of them here.

It is very easy to take meeting notes with OneNote. When scheduling a meeting on Outlook, click on Meeting Notes from the upper toolbar.

A note will be created with everything you mentioned in the meeting invite: Subject, participants, attached documents or description and date. You can either share these notes with participants (in this case, a link is created directly in the invite for all participants) or take notes for yourself.

If the meeting has been rescheduled, you can refresh the data from your meeting notes from the Home tab, selecting meeting notes and clicking on Refresh

Searching your notes

OneNote integrates a Search Funtion to 1. help search in your various Notebooks,

Sections and Pages. Look for it on the

right pane.

Enter the word you are looking for and 2. OneNote will present you with sections

and pages where this word appears.

3. To search for tags, Select the Home Tab, and click on Find Tags. A new pane opens on the right of your

4. document: the Tags Summary. It will show you all your tags that you can group by name, date, and more.

Clipping from the Web

1. First make sure you download the OneNote Web Clipper from clipper. Once installed, you will get all the benefits.

2. From the webpage you want to paste, click on ... on the top right of the page

3. You can now choose whatever you want to copy: the entire page, the article only (recipe or else), or the link with summary.

Select the Notebook and section where you wish to save it.

If you wish to copy-paste only a specific information of the page click on this icon:

You can now select the region of the page you would like to copy by selecting the scissors icon. You can also add a comment or draw on the page before you 5. save it to your notes.

Sharing and Collaborating

You can share your notebook with your colleagues to work together.To do so, 6. select the File tab and click on Share. Add the names of the people you would like to share your notes with.
