These expanded exhibits will enliven local surfinghistory and culture for all age visitors to our museum. Some panels will be offered to othermuseums as traveling exhibits, generating revenues, others offered to hotels, restaurants,and other tourism businesses for sponsorships.Philippine American Society Inc.Philippine Summer FestivalAward Amount: $3,463.00The Philippine Summer Festival is a multi-cultural event featuring mainly the Philippine culture and traditions. It features ethnic dances and music by professional artists and local talents and offers a taste of authentic Filipino cuisine, arts and native products. The grant will be applied towards artistic fee, space rental to South Florida Fairground and other professional services.The Taras Oceanographic Foundation, Inc.Ocean of Notes Concert SeriesAward Amount: $3,504.00The Ocean of Notes Concert Series in one of two Edu-Tainment programs of the Foundation. Recognizing that sharing this acoustic world has been successful in educating and engaging the public in conservation, we created the Ocean of Notes Concert Series with the following goals in mind: to promote music, musicians and their craft, share the important research conservation work we do through Palm Beach County, and engage the audience in specific conservation efforts or campaigns nonlocal, regional and global levels.The grant dollars will be used to cover artist fees.Arts Dance Generation, Inc.Bravo - Where Passion Meets Dance - 2018-2019Award Amount: $3,510.00Arts Dance Generation presents three premium performances annually. During the 2018-19 season they will perform The Nutcracker in December, An Evening of Magic and Dance in April, and Coppèlia in June. Each of these performances will include professional guest artists. Our grant is used to help defray the cost of the professional artists. These artists are a significant part of our teaching program, providing our students to train, partner with and dance with the professionals. Cultural Council of Palm Beach County grant dollars are spent to pay artists to perform at the events , and to pay for advertising to the public.The Masterworks Chorus of the Palm Beaches, Inc.The Masterworks Chorus of the Palm Beaches 2018-2019 Concert SeasonAward Amount: $3,616.00We allocated the grant monies awarded us to pay for a 16-piece professional orchestra that accompanied us with our two Messiah performances, that attracted nearly 1,000 audience members.Delta Heritage FoundationWomen of Excellence Gala 2019Award Amount: $3,636.00The Delta Heritage Foundation in collaboration with the West Palm Beach Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will present the 2019 Women of Excellence Gala on June 15, 2019, 6:00 pm at the West Palm Beach Convention Center. Tickets ($100.00) may be purchased from members of both organizations or through PayPal. The Excellence Gala recognizes women, throughout Palm Beach County who have been nominated for their exceptional contributions in a variety of categories while providing community service to the underserved population. Cultural Council grant award funds will assist with marketing, artists (musical and theatrical), and technical services.The Robert Sharon Chorale, Inc.The Robert Sharon Chorale's 2018/2019 SeasonAward Amount: $3,636.00The Robert Sharon Chorale's 2018/2019 Season, consists of 4 performances, from a "Holiday Celebration" in December, a "Student Vocal Competition for Classical Voice and Musical Theater" in February, a "Performance Showcase" of the winners of the competition as well as the Chorale in March, and a "Patriotic Tribute" in May.The grant money is used to help pay for the service of our conductor, Robert Sharon, a piano virtuoso who puts the concerts together and teaches and accompanies the chorale to perform with professionalism.April is for Authors Foundation, Inc.BAM WPBAward Amount: $3,819.00The April is for Authors Foundation sponsors BAM! A Festival of Books, Art, and Music in Downtown West Palm Beach. The AIFA Foundation does not pay honorariums to the participating authors for the event. It does pay travel and lodging expenses for the authors. And, in return the AIFA Foundation expects the authors to reduce their fees for school visits to make the visits more affordable to all schools. With a 2018-2019 award of $3819, the AIFA Foundation would be able to bring the magic of an author or illustrator visit to more schools.Martin Luther King Jr. Coordinating Committee of West Palm Beach Inc.Artistic, Cultural and Educational Performance SeriesAward Amount: $3,859.00The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Coordinating Committee’s (MLKCC) mission is to provide cultural activities, cultural performances, exhibitions and events. These multi-ethnic, family-oriented activities garner the support of families, community leaders and to motivate students, enrich their lives, and launch them toward a career in their area of interest. Budget funds are used towards artistic instructors and space rental for programming events that encourage artistic and cultural participation of students and artists.CULTURAL ORGANZATIONS, LEVEL TWOStreet Beat, Inc.Street Beat, Inc. Arts & Mentoring ProjectSBI will provide an arts based instruction and mentoring program to 40 middle-high school aged youth at Lake Shore Middle and Glades Central Community High School's AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) students. Art forms to be used will include various aspects of dance, step, percussion, vocal and instrumental music. Group mentoring sessions will also be provided. Funding will be used to hire local artists to conduct art and mentoring sessions, performances and field trips. Blue Planet Teaching Artists facilitate these school-based projects, connecting students here to classrooms overseas through technology such as Skype, email, and Dropbox; the projects culminate in a creative project/performance. YOPBC members are placed, based on ability and age, in one of YOPBC's four orchestras which range from beginner to advanced levels. Orchestra placement is fluid -- when ready members are encouraged to move to the next level orchestra. Of YOPBC's approximately 180 members, 25 percent come from low to moderate income households. No child is ever turned away due to the inability to pay for membership, instruments or music. C1 grant funding will be used to financially compensate some of YOPBCs contracted conductors.CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS, LEVEL THREEThe Children's Museum, Inc.Earth Day Celebration, Traveling Museum and Field TripsAward Amount: $10,725.00The programs we are proposing are our Earth Day celebration, an expression of social responsibility through “art” where we will teach creative ways to take care our planet, and keep it healthy utilizing recycling activities, music, eco-friendly art projects including a Recycled Fashion Show. Additionally we will be providing the Traveling Museum Outreach Program for schools, camps, and after-school programs utilizing the museum’s 19 comprehensive arts-integrated programs. KidsFit Jamathon is a fun-filled event that provides activities ranging from physically challenging games, dance competitions, obstacle courses, and allows participants to be onstage to perform for everyone! Digital Vibez has partnered with several organizations to deliver health and fitness classes and the KidsFit Jamathon to Palm Beach County’s youth. The KidsFit Jamathon is a three-hour fitness event that serves nearly 3,000 students in Palm Beach County to gain helpful resources that engages youth in a fun and healthy lifestyle.The Chamber Music Society of Palm Beach, Inc.2018-19 Concert Season and PBC Public School & Community Engagement ProgramsAward Amount: $11,261.00The CMS 2018-19 concert season will feature 32 artists performing in 10 public concerts, plus pop-up concerts, community-based programs, and 10 to 15 school-based programs in Palm Beach County Commission Districts 1,2, 4, and 7. Grant funds will cover artist and venue fees and will reach an estimated 2,200 adults and 1,300 elementary and middle school students.Delray Beach Arts, Inc.20th Annual South Florida Garlic FestAward Amount: $11,273.00This unique 2 day event brings multi-cultural gourmet food, nat'l & local musical acts, artists & crafters to Palm Beach County with opportunities to participate in cultural, recreational & educational activities. The event has been committed to continually introducing new, innovative & fun attractions including Artists Row, Gourmet Alley, Main Stage, Garlic University, & Children’s Amusement Area. Grant dollars are for cost of mobile weatherproof stage required for national act performances.Benzaiten Center for Creative Arts, Inc.A Taste of GlassAward Amount: $11,365.00The Benzaiten Center for Creative Arts will work with local nonprofit organizations, schools, summer camps, and city/county parks and recreation departments to offer glass blowing, fusing, flame-working and sand-casting classes to children, teens and adult family members. Each student will work one-on-one with a glass artist to create their own masterpiece. These programs will be offered Tuesday - Saturday and can accommodate up to 60 people each day. Benzaiten hopes to reach 750 people. The grant money will be used to market the programs, purchase materials for the classes and pay the artist instructors for their time.Center for Creative Education‘Digital Connection Lab: An Innovative Performing, Visual, & Media Arts Experience’Award Amount: $11,456.00With funding support by the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, Center for Creative Education (CCE) will present three art exhibitions and three theatrical performances to the public. The purpose of these cultural experiences is to bring a low-cost cultural opportunity to the public as well as a low-income demographic that CCE serves with its arts-based, educational programming for children throughout the county. CCE will utilize these cultural events as a way to connect all three in-house programs: The Sallie & Berton Korman Gallery, The Hilton Theater, and the C4, Media-Arts & Technology after-school programming. Students involved with C4 will have the opportunity to produce exhibit ready art for the gallery, be hands-on with tech in the theater, and create digital imagery and videos to be used within the theatrical productions. The W2W Summer Series (June-September) includes 7 distinct programs, targeting children grades K-12: 3 Junk Camps, 3 Maker Intensive Workshops, and 45 hands-on Field Trip Experiences with community organizations. Each engagement focuses on a broader "Arts with an Ecological Heart" topic to provide a "real world" environmental stewardship context and includes staff-led coaching, age-appropriate making including art techniques ranging from collage/assemblage, sculpture, jewelry, drawing & painting, fiber arts and printmaking.Arts4All Florida, Inc.
