JOHNSON, Mrs. Katherine J. - Age 54, was called home on Wednesday, February 23, 2000 from Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2000 from Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 4805 N. Saginaw, with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m., Rev. Henry Fuller officiating. Interment Rive Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and family will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park and may be viewed after 10 a.m. Sunday. Mrs. Katherine J. Johnson began this journey of life on June 21, 1945 in Flint, Michigan, the oldest daughter of Cleophas and Marjorie Bell. She attended the Flint Public Schools, graduating from Flint Central High School in 1963. She was joined in holy matrimony to Larry Johnson on April 15, 1966. From this union 2 children, Shawn Marie and Kendrick Johnson were born. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Dr. Granville Smith. She then became active, serving in the Usher Ministry and as a Sunday school teacher. She was employed by AC Spark Plug, a Division of General Motors, retiring after 25 years of service and was a member of UAW. She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Larry (Pete) Johnson; 1 daughter, Shawn Marie Stephens; 1 son, Kendrick Johnson; 1 god-daughter, Christina Lawson; 2 grandchildren, Shaquell and Jamie Marie Stephens, Flint; mother, Marjorie Bell of Flint; 2 sisters, Phyllis Magby of Flint and Denise Bell of Detroit, Michigan; 1 brother, Cleophas Bell Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan; 5 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald and Diane Johnson, James and Paulette Johnson, Earnestine Todd, Christine Johnson, all of Flint, Johnny and Marjorie Reed of Cleveland, Ohio; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Deacon Earnest and Jaylen Johnson; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives including cousins, Celeste Bell and Gloria Hines of Flint; many friends including Leon Lawson and family, the Walkers, Brenda Banks, and the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Family. Father preceded her in death, Cleophas Bell Sr. The Lord has given, the Lord has taken away, blessed by the name of the Lord.
