Invitation

Overview

The Wilson Student Government has asked you to create an invitation for the next 5th & 6th grade Open House. Create as per the attached steps:

Steps

1. Start Microsoft Publisher – Start – Programs – Microsoft Publisher

2. Click on the File tab then New. Under More Templates choose Invitation Cards

3. Choose All Party and under themed party choose Picnic then Create

4. Go to Page Design Tab and choose any Color Scheme you wish

5. Click on the 1st page and add another picture (can be clip art or from the internet)

6. Click on page 2/3 at the side to go to page 2

7. In the invitation title type: 5th and 6th Grade Family Open House

8. In the 2nd text box type: Contact Person: Dr. Matthew

Date: June 20, 2013

Time: 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

9. Go to Drawing Tools – Format Add Shadow Effects or Color to enhance

10. In the 3rd text box type: Activities, Food, Displays, Meet the teachers, Tours

11. In the 4th text box type: Wilson Foundation Academy

200 Genesee Street, Rochester, NY

12. Delete the Clip art at the top of page 3 and insert clip art of a school bus

13. Click on the picture go to Picture Tools and choose a Picture Style

14. Click on page 4 - Go to Insert Tab and choose Draw Text Box, Draw a square

15. In the square type: Designed by (Add your name)

16. Save as Invitation

Business Card

Overview

Create a Business Card for yourself to use when you go to visit Colleges or Job Interviews

Steps

1. Start Microsoft Publisher – Start – Programs – Microsoft Publisher

2. Click on the File tab then New. Under Most Popular choose Business Cards

3. Under Installed Templates choose any style

4. On the right under Business Information Select Create New

5. Enter in your personal information:

Name:

Title: Student

Organization Name: Wilson Foundation Academy

Address: 200 Genesee Street, Rochester, NY

Phone: 585-463-4100

Email: Enter your email address (make sure it is professional)

6. Under Logo Locate the Wilson logo or school picture and save to your computer. Click Add Logo and get it from your file

7. Under Customize you may change the colors and fonts

8. Click Create when done

Adding Building Blocks Enhancements:

9. Click on Insert then Borders & Accents

10. Click More Borders & Accents

11. Scroll Down and Choose Pixel Pattern or Tri-Shape then click Insert

12. Move the shape to where it looks good on your business card

13. Save as My Business Card

Birthday Card

Overview

Create a Birthday Card for someone you know

Steps

1. Start Microsoft Publisher – Start – Programs – Microsoft Publisher

2. Click on the File tab then New. Choose Greeting Cards

3. Under Birthday, Choose any style Birthday Card you want

4. Under Customize you may change the colors and fonts

5. Click Create when done

6. Go to Page 2 and 3

7. On page 2 Click on Insert Shape, Insert a shape of your choice, Double click the shape and go to Drawing Tools. Add fill color, add a different border color, and add text of your choice (right mouse click to add text)

8. Insert a rectangle shape to show up behind the previous shape. Click on Insert Shape and choose a rectangle. Drag the shape so that it surrounds your object. Double click the rectangle and in the Arrange group, point to Send Backward, and then click Send to Back.

9. In the Shape Styles group, click Shape Fill, and choose a different color

10. Go to page 3 and change the text color to match your card. Add any words you wish,

11. Go to page 4 and insert a clip art of your choice

12. Save as Birthday Card

Your Problem: You’ve have decided to create a new elementary school that has yet to be named for which you will serve as the principal. As the principal you must decide upon a name, a logo, a mission statement, and then develop a brochure meant to attract students in grades K-8 to attend your school for the 2013-2014 school year.

Instructions: Create a one page advertisement in Publisher for a new soft drink of your choice. Follow the directions below:

1. Use a blank template 8.5 x 11 (Click on File –new-blank)

2. Create and use an appropriate name for your product

3. Create and use an appropriate motto or slogan for your product.

EX. Coca Cola “Open Happiness”

4. Create and use an appropriate description for your product that uses at least two bullets

5. Use Wordart at least once

6. Use at least 1 shape with text placed inside it

7. Use at least 3 different colors

8. Use 3 graphics or pictures

9. Create a coupon with a dashed line border that could be cut out to save % off your product (Click on Insert – Advertisements – scroll to the bottom for coupons)

10. The advertisement must fill up one page and be free of grammatical errors
