DreamBox Learning Welcome Kit for Leaders: Introduction

Fall 2018 - Spring 2019

Welcome to the DreamBox Learning Community!

All of us at DreamBox are excited to partner with you and your entire community to provide students with amazing experiences in math this year! We know how hard you work to support teachers and students all year long. That's why we're working tirelessly to create and provide powerful tools that improve student achievement and support teachers in innovative ways. As you may know, DreamBox has more independent, third party research validation of positive impact on achievement than any other K-8 math software program. So, as we embark on our partnership, here's a quick reminder of why DreamBox is the perfect partner for schools, teachers, and students.

Like you, we know that all students are brilliant and every classroom is unique. That's why DreamBox isn't like other math software programs that treat every student the same. Instead, we've designed the most e ective personalized digital math curriculum that empowers students to actively "think and do" in math while also building their confidence. DreamBox's lessons, games, and virtual manipulatives enable students to make sense of math in new ways that are only possible in a digital environment with just-in-time sca olding and di erentiation.

In addition to the data and reporting you can access every day to know whether your students are on track for success in math, DreamBox has a wide range of innovative tools and valuable resources that support administrators and leaders. Whether you're monitoring student growth in a PLC or intervention model, providing teachers with PD that expands their math content knowledge, or working to strengthen home-school connections, DreamBox's wide range of services and features can support the initiatives that matter most to you.

We're humbled and honored to be a part of your learning community and contributing to the math learning of your students. We value our partnership, so we hope you'll share your feedback and ideas as we work together to improve student confidence and achievement in math.

Sincerely,

Tim Hudson, PhD Chief Learning O cer DreamBox Learning

DreamBox Learning Welcome Kit for Leaders: Best Practices for Success Implementation

Fall 2018 - Spring 2019

As you head into your school year, here are some best practices to ensure that your teachers are set up for success with DreamBox and that your students are engaged, excited, and growing in their learning of mathematics.

Goals

Set achievable and measurable goals around DreamBox that support a strong math culture and align with your school and district goals. For a healthy implementation, you'll want to make sure your students:

Spend up to 60 minutes per week on DreamBox (5-10 lessons for Grades K-2; 7-8 lessons for Grades 3-8)

Planning

Make sure to allocate ample time to introduce DreamBox to your Sta

Encourage your teachers and sta to view the Welcome Video and read the Welcome Kit for Teachers, available in their Insight Dashboard, to become familiar with the power of DreamBox Learning Math

Share your goals with your teachers so they are clear on what success looks like with integrating DreamBox into their weekly math program

Develop and share plans to support initial and ongoing DreamBox training for your Sta

Help your teachers feel confident in using DreamBox by ensuring they attend this introductory training session

Design professional learning communities around DreamBox, along with other important math topics, to facilitate ongoing conversation, sharing of best practices, and teacher-to-teacher support

Identify a few teacher leaders in each school that your teachers can turn to for inspiration and motivation around using DreamBox

Set up a strong home connection at the beginning of the school year

Have teachers send parent letters (downloadable in the Insight Teacher Dashboard) or send a school-wide letter from the Principal

Encourage your learning guardians to claim their student so they can access their child's data in the parent Insight Dashboard

Engage families in understanding DreamBox by sharing highlights at a Family Math Night or Curriculum Night

Expert Tip: Organize a 'Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD)' Night to help your stduents' learning guardians set up their Insight Dashboard and

student access on their home devices.

During our first full year of implementation, professional learning was a key factor to our success. It was important that professional development went beyond just learning about the program, but also focused on refining instructional strategies. Dr. Lynn Simmers, Asst. Superintendent, Southwest Allen County Schools
