Important Information for Students and Families

Google Classroom

Separate instructions on how to join the PRES Second Grade Google Classroom are being sent for you help your child. To use Google Classroom, you need

to sign in on your computer or mobile device. Go to and log into your school account. After you are logged into your account, click on the waffle and click "Classroom". If you are having trouble logging in from home, make sure all other Google accounts are signed out before you login.

The Stream is where students can view and access announcements, assignments, discussion topics, and comments. Students may click on "Classwork" to see the current assignments that are provided.

The easiest way to access Google Classroom without a computer is by using the Classroom App on a phone or tablet.

Google Classroom can also be opened on Xbox and Playstation. Students will need to use the built-in browsers that come on these devices. On Xbox, it is Microsoft Edge. On Playstation, it is the "www" browser. If you have a keyboard, you may plug it in ? you will have a much easier time navigating Google Classroom. Otherwise, you will have to use your controllers to click on the classroom tiles , open up assignments and type.

To access Google Classroom assignments, click on the "Classwork" tab. Click on the assignment underneath the topic to open it. To use a Google Classroom Playlist, click on the playlist to open it in Google Slides. Go through one slide at a time. Follow the instructions on each slide to complete the work. You may also click on the sound icon to have the slide read to you.

Have fun reviewing material that has been taught. There will not be any new material presented in Google Classroom. Please let your child's teacher know if you are having any issues accessing Google Classroom.

DreamBox

DreamBox Learning Math is a rigorous, and highly adaptive math curriculum that students can access online. It meets the educational needs of each individual learner, adjusting and re-adjusting in the moment as they engage in a fun learning environment. Students are assessed by using the data collected from their completed lessons. To ensure accurate assessment, encourage your child to complete lessons, even if they find them too difficult or too easy, rahter than abandoning them mid-lesson. Students need to complete one lesson each day.

To access DreamBox on an iPad, download the DreamBox Learning Math app, go to or search for "DreamBox Learning Math" in the App Store. You will also need to download the Clever app as well. If you already have the app installed, you'll want to make sure the latest version of the app has been installed so your child receives the most current experience and lessons. To use DreamBox, you need to login to Clever first, then click on DreamBox.

Create your DreamBox Account to review your child's academic progress at home in your Family Dashboard. Please follow these steps to create your free account:

1. You will need your child's DreamBox school login information from their teacher to login for the first time.

2. Have your student login to their profile just as they would at school.

3. Click Setup Parent Access at the bottom of the page.

4. Follow the instructions provided to create a new login and password (Must be 12 characters.)

5. Click "No" to "I am a current customer." 6. Read Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. 7. Click "Submit". Log into your home account after setup: 1. Go to . 2. Enter your email address and password. 3. To see student progress, click the "Family

Dashboard" button.

Lexia Core5

Another resource for you to access is Lexia Core5. Students can practice activities in reading including working with sounds, spelling patterns, vocabulary, and comprehension. Lexia adjusts based on each student's individual needs.

Students login through Clever, and then click on the Core5 icon. When students login for the first time, they get a "placement" test. When that is over, they login again and the program places them appropriately based on the initial screening. Students need to complete one lesson or work for fifteen minutes each day..

Cox and Comcast Internet Program

Cox and Comcast have had a program that offered Internet for families. This is an income based program so you may need to provide income verification when you call. This program was available for $9.99 per month previously. They are now offering this program for FREE for two months with NO obligation for continued use AFTER those two months. Benchmark Books

Students may read guided reading leveled books by using the Benchmark app in Clever. To access your child's leveled books, have them login to Clever, then click on the Benchmark icon. Once they are in Benchmark, they may click on Assignments to access the specific leveled books at their most current reading level. Students should read a leveled book each day.

ParentVue and Report Cards

Activation keys for ParentVue were sent to parents who have not previously activated their accounts. This information will allow you to set up your ParentVue account so that you may access your child's report card.

Report cards will be available to view in ParentVue on Monday, April 6th.

If you still need assistance with ParentVue, please let your child's teacher know.

Origo at Home

Origo Education has created weekly, digital content plans for home use. The weekly plans contain activities for each day, along with digitally accessible or downloadable resources. These resources complement the mathematical concepts and skills students are learning at their grade level.

To access Origo at Home, go to the PRES Student Resources webpage and click on the Origo at Home icon. No login is required. Click United States to enter. There is a short video to provide you with a quick overview on how to navigate the site. When you are ready, click a grade two to get started.

On the Grade 2 ? Overview page, each of the weeks provides five daily activities organized around a specific math topic. To establish a rhythm for learning at home, each day of the week has a focus:

? Monday ? Read and Discuss ? Tuesday ? Hands-On Math ? Wednesday ? Problem Solving ? Thursday ? Game Day (Digital Practice) ? Friday ? Practice Depending on your family's needs and resources, you might complete multiple activities in a day or skip an activity from time-to-time. The learning from the Monday activity is especially important to set the week up for success, so we encourage you to work through the activities in order, even if you do not complet them all.

Tuesday, April 7th: Favorite Book Tuesday. Show us your favorite book, comic or graphic novel!

Wednesday, April 8th. P.E. Wednesday. Show what inside or outside physical activity you and your family are doing.

Thursday, April 9th. Kindness Thursday. Write an encouraging message to someone, anyone.

Friday, April 10th. PRIDE Friday. We made it! Show us your school pride...Wear your Patriot Colors!

Second Grade will begin posting a Weekly Shout Out Board on Google Classroom. This board will give a shout out to the top three users in Lexia and DreamBox, in each classroom. The board will be updated each Monday, so start using these programs! Have fun!
