MEMORANDUM FOR CDR, BN STAFF, ALPHA, BRAVO, CHARLIE, DELTA 1-79 FA

SUBJECT: OPORD #20-07, Monthly Retirement Ceremonies for CY07

TASK ORGANIZATION: No Change.

1. SITUATION.

a. Enemy Forces. None.

b. Friendly Forces. All USAFATC IET Soldiers and Cadre.

2. MISSION. 1-79 Field Artillery Battalion conducts USAFACFS Retirement Ceremonies

IAW FM 3-21.5 and USAFACFS Regulation 210-5.

3. EXECUTION.

a) Commander's Intent; I want to support the installation's retirement

ceremonies in a fashion that will bring credit to 1-79 FA and to the honored retirees. In addition, provide an opportunity to reinforce Drill and Ceremony and Army traditions for our newest Soldiers.

b) Concept of Operation: 1-79 FA will support the USAFACFS Monthly Retirement Ceremony, Old Post Quadrangle (OPQ) at 0900 14 Sep 2007. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be conducted at 0900 the same day in the Rinehart Physical Fitness Center (RPFC).

1. Task to unit:

a) BN STAFF

i. LTC Dewitt will be commander of troops for the ceremony.

ii. A staff of four (4),

1. MAJ Mctague, Robert

2. SFC Solis, Kristie

3. SFC Cliatt, Anthony

4. SSG Sifuentes, Guy

5. Provide Chaplain Cornell to give the benediction for the ceremony.

b) Alpha Btry

1. CPT Casebeer (BC)

2. First Sergeant Wright (1SG)

3. One Guidon Bearer with Guidon, need a name.

4. A 54 Soldier formation, including a front rank of 6 Drill Sergeants.

6. Provide one Combat Lifesaver qualified person with equipment and one 5 gallon jug of water.

Need a name.

c) Charlie Btry

1. CPT Bolton (BC)

2. First Sergeant Hogan (1SG)

3. One Guidon Bearer with Guidon, need a name NLT 17 Aug 2007.

4. A 54 Soldier formation, including a front rank of 6 Drill Sergeants.

5. Provide one Combat Lifesaver qualified person with equipment. Need a name NLT 17 Aug

2007.

6. Provide NCOIC and detail (OPQ only) to pick-up, transport, set up, and recover 200 chairs

and 100 red cushions. POC for chairs and cushions is Mr. Willis, DPTM, 2-3697. Tasked

NCOIC will coordinate with DPTMS for set-up and recovery times. Submit SNL of NCOIC to

BN S3, NLT 17 Aug 2007.

7. Provide 3 Soldiers for Color Guard Team IAW USAFACFS Reg. 210-5 and FM 3-21.5. The

unit will obtain the colors (National, Army, Post, and Retiree Flags) from DPTM; POC is Mr.

Willis, 2-3697. Need the names NLT 17 Aug 2007.

d) Delta Btry

1. CPT Posey (BC)

2. First Sergeant Citizen (1SG)

3. One Guidon Bearer with Guidon, need a name NLT 17 Aug 2007.

4. A 54 Soldier formation, including a front rank of 6 Drill Sergeants.

5. Provide one Combat Lifesaver qualified person with equipment. Need a name NLT 17 Aug

2007.

6. Provide 3 Soldiers for Color Guard Team IAW USAFACFS Reg. 210-5 and FM 3-21.5.

Charlie Btry has POC and will obtain the colors. Need the names NLT 17 Aug 2007.

7. Provide one (1) water buffalo, with cups and trash bags, for the ceremony. The water buffalo

must be placed in front of bldg. 437 on Quanah Rd NLT 0700 and removed NET 0830.

8. Setup and recover one (1) canopy provided by DPTM, POC is Mr. Willis, 2-3697. Tasked

NCOIC will coordinate with DPTMS for setup and recovery times. Submit SNL of NCOIC to

BN S-3, NLT 17 Aug 2007.

e) Golf Btry

1. CPT Jegeilski (BC)

2. First sergeant Brossard (1SG)

3. One Guidon Bearer with Guidon, need a name NLT 17 Aug 2007.

4. A 54 Soldier formation, including a front rank of 6 Drill Sergeants.

5. Provide one Combat Lifesaver qualified person with equipment. Need a name NLT 17 Aug

2007.

f) All names of participating personnel will be provided to BN S-3 NLT 17 Aug 2007.

c. Provide the following for the Rinehart Physical Fitness Center ceremony (inclement weather only):

3. 434th BDE S3 will coordinate with TMP for transportation to and from the OPQ or Rinehart Gym (inclement weather ceremony). Pick up time for the troops, is at 0730 on the day of the ceremony with a return time of 1000.

4. Coordinating Instructions:

a. Uniform. Army Combat Uniform (ACU’s) with sleeves down, beret (soft cap for Soldiers who have not been issued the beret, but all IET Soldiers in formation need the same cover). Field jackets and black leather gloves may be worn if the temperature dictates. No jewelry (except wedding rings) or sunglasses will be worn.

i. Color bearers will wear olive drab (OD) slings with stripped pistol belts.

ii. Color guards will wear stripped pistol belts and carry M16A2 rifles without slings.

b. Rehearsals. Rehearsals will be conducted the day of the ceremony as follows:

i. 1200 hrs - key personnel OPQ or key personnel/inclement weather at RPFC.

ii. 1300 hrs - full dress rehearsal OPQ or RPFC.

c. Units are picked up at their respective loading points NLT 0730 on the day of the ceremony.

5. The 434th FAB S4 (Food Service) will coordinate with all Dining Facilities for early breakfast / lunch meal request for 240 Soldiers for each participating unit.
