Chlorinator Retrofit Installation Instructions

Supplies Needed:

Cordless Drill 7/32” drill bit 1/2” PVC pipe (10 ft.)

PVC Glue & Cleaner PVC Cutters or Saw 4” PVC pipe (10 ft.)

Pliers & Cutting Pliers

Cheap Cotton String Mop

!!!! TURN OFF POWER FIRST !!!!

It Is Recommended To Pump Sediment From Bottom Of Pump Tank Prior To Installation

Venturi “T” Assembly (Retrofit or New Installation)

With PUMP TANK RISERS installed to finished grade, install Venturi and reducing “T” w/barb fitting. Install reducing “T” onto the sprayfield discharge pipe between the union on the discharge pipe and risers on tank. For “DEEP” installations (ie.2 or more risers on pump tank) install reducing “T” with ½” port facing up. Insert proper length of 1/2” pipe to bring the assembly about 2” from the top of risers so chlorinator components will not interfere with the lid closing. Now attach (2) ½” 90* elbows to the ½” pipe which was installed previously to make a 180* return back into the tank . Attach 3/8” vinyl tubing from Venturi assembly to barb fitting on reducing “T”. Attach an appropriate length of 1/2” pipe for re-circulation below the Venturi “T” making sure re-circulation pipe goes about 4” from bottom of tank. (If previous two steps are not done, chlorinator WILL NOT work properly!!!)

Storage Container Assembly (Retrofit Only)

Measure from the bottom inside of pump tank to top of riser; subtract 6 1/2”, cut 4” pipe to this measurement. !! DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!! After first cleaning dirt and debris from inside of pipe (This is easily done using a cheap mop) glue bottom cap on pipe. Now glue male adapter with threaded cap to top of storage container. Install Container into tank and attach to existing Tablet chlorinator tube using large stainless hose clamps(available from most plumbing supplies). If there is no in tank Tablet chlorinator, attach container to riser by whatever method the installer deems necessary. (I suggest screwing a piece of 2x4 treated lumber to the riser. Screw from the outside to the 2x4 on the inside using large stainless hose clamps to secure container to wood). Another method is to put the bottom of your container (with the cap installed) into a 2-3 gallon bucket and fill with cement to make a deadman weight to hold container in place.

¼” Vinyl Tubing / Filter

The outlet hole for the vinyl tubing from the Storage Container should be drilled with a 7/32” bit about 1”-2” below the Venturi “T” inlet, drill at a downward angle toward the inside of the storage container. Cut the ¼” vinyl tubing, opposite end from the filter assembly at a long angle and force the long angle through the hole from the inside of the storage container to the outside, (make sure filter assembly lays on the bottom inside bottom of cap) pulling remainder of tubing outside the storage container, to be attached to the Check-valve/Venturi “T”. After square cutting end of tubing, attach tubing to the check-valve that attaches to Venturi “T”. (DO NOT PUT ANY METAL EVEN STAINLESS INSIDE STORAGE CONTAINER)

Fill Storage Container with 6.00 – 8.00% Sodium Hypochlorite (Household Bleach) TO PREVENT SYPHONING DO NOT FILL CONTAINER ABOVE TUBING DISCHARGE LEVEL!!!
