Georgia Weapons Carry LicenseBarrow County Probate Court652 Barrow Park Drive Suite DWinder, Georgia 30680(770) 307-3045 Applying for a Georgia Weapons Carry License To obtain a weapons carry license in this court, you must reside in Barrow County, be age 21 or over, have a non-expired Georgia Driver's License or State issued I.D., proof of Barrow County address if it is not on the Driver's License or I.D. card (this can be in the form of an original utility bill, lease, or closing papers if buying a home, and be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident).In order to apply for a Georgia Weapons Carry Permit, you MUST:Be a citizen of the United States. All applicants who are citizens must provide a Georgia Driver's License or Georgia state issued picture I.D. card with your correct name, address, and date of birth. Or,Be a Resident Alien and provide the following: (1) a non-expired Georgia Driver's License or Georgia state issued I.D. card, (2) a non-expired Resident Alien card, and (3) a Georgia Hunting License (Can be obtained by logging onto ) and proof of your 90-day Georgia residency. This can be in the form of three months of an original utility bill, rental receipts, et., in your name immediately preceding the date of application. The 90-day residency is in consecutive months (February 1, 2012 to March 1, 2012; March 1, 2012 to April 1, 2012; and April 1, 2012 to May 1, 2012). Or,Be a Permanent Resident and provide the following: (1) a non-expired Georgia Driver's License or Georgia state issued picture I.D. card, (2) a Permanent Resident Card, and (3) proof of your 90-day Georgia residency. This can be in the form of three months of an original utility bill, rental receipts, etc. in your name immediately preceding the date of application. The 90-day residency must be in consecutive months (Example: February 1, 2012 to March 1, 2012; March 1, 2012 to April 1, 2012; and April 1, 2012 to May 1, 2012). THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE ABOVEINSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE APPLICATION FOR WEAPONS CARRY LICENSEUse blue or black ink to complete the application. NO WHITE OUT IS ALLOWED.Print neatly. Any illegible information on the application will delay the processing time of your permit.NO REFUNDS are given under any circumstances.NO WEAPONS CARRY PERMIT SHALL BE ISSUED TO:Convicted felons, unless pardoned and unless said pardon reinstates all rights, specifically the right to bear arms;Anyone convicted within the last (past) five years of laws concerning controlled substances or dangerous drugs, whether pardoned or not (O.C.G.A. 16-11-129(b)(5)(a).Persons convicted of Domestic Violence.Effective 03-01-2013 ALL Georgia Weapons Carry License applicants will pay a TOTAL fee of $79.25 for their Permit. Please note that if you are a retired Law Enforcement Officer with arresting powers, having worked ten of the last twelve years prior to your retirement, Weapons Carry License fees are waived with exception of a $7.00 fee for the photo permit. After completing your Weapons Carry License application, submitting the proper I.D., and a payment of $30.00 (Cash or Credit Card Only – Visa, Master Card, or Discover Card - no starter checks, you will then go to be fingerprinted at the Barrow County Jail, located behind the Barrow County Courthouse. At the Barrow County Jail the remainder of the fingerprint fee will be paid. The Jail ONLY accepts Cash in the amount of $49.25.Hours of Operation for Weapons Carry Fingerprinting For A New LicenseMonday through Friday 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon The GBI and FBI will conduct a background check. After all records are returned to the Probate Court, and if your background check has met all the qualifications and requirements, your permit will be mailed to you in an envelope that you have addressed at the time of your application.RENEWAL OF GEORGIA WEAPONS CARRY LICENSE A renewal applicant is one who can provide proof that they have a valid weapons carry license, issued by Barrow County, and they are reapplying within 90 days or less until their weapons carry license expires or not more than 30 days after their weapons carry license expired. The cost of a renewal license is $30.00 and a renewal can be obtained in the Probate Court Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.REPLACEMENT PERMITSIf your permit is lost, damaged, or stolen, you will need to notify the Barrow County Probate Court within 48 hours to receive a duplicate permit. The fee for a duplicate permit is $6.00. ................
