About Nordic Enterprises, Inc.

And the Western Pacific Truck School

N

ordic Enterprises, Inc. was opened in West Sacramento, California in June of 1977 by Everett and Greta Nord with the goal of training men and women to become professional truck drivers. In 1988, the ownership was divided, and Nordic Enterprises, Inc. became a small woman-owned business founded by its president, Greta Nord. The headquarters is in Stockton, California with several facilities located on the West Coast.

In their 30th year of business, Nordic Enterprises has expanded their training throughout the Western United States. They are still devoted to their original goal—giving men and women the knowledge and skills needed in order to become professional truck drivers.

The mission of Nordic Enterprises Truck School is to prepare their students with the knowledge and skills that will help them become qualified and successful truck operators. Nordic Enterprises accomplishes this through their following training packages:

• Class A—Tractor Trailer Operator Program (SIN 27-400)

• Class B—Commercial Driver’s License Program (CDL) (SIN 27-400)

• Professional Driver Services (PDS) (SIN 27-500)

SIN 27-400—Instructor-Led Training

Class A—Tractor Trailer Operator Program

The Tractor Trailer Operator Program is a four-week program (full-time enrollment). Field and classroom training total 160 clock hours. (A clock hour equals 55 contact minutes per hour.) Field training consists of 120 hours of both actual driving time and observation time. Classroom training is 40 hours.

The Tractor Trailer Operator Program includes in-depth study of DOT safety rules and regulations. Homework is assigned on a regular basis. Students must be prepared for an intensive program of study. Basic driving skills are taught with various types of tractor/trailer combinations. Students are taught defensive driving techniques and the skills required for emergency situations. All students drive on the open road in highway, city and heavy traffic conditions. We place heavy emphasis on defensive driving, backing, safety and emergency procedures. Students who have earned their Commercial Driver’s License and are eligible to graduate will receive a Diploma for successful completion of our course. With the successful completion of our program, men and women have the qualifications necessary to enter the trucking industry as an entry-level diesel tractor/trailer driver.

Nordic Enterprises students are trained on two-axle and three-axle cabover and conventional tractors. Our tractors are equipped with the engine and transmission combinations commonly used today. Students pull various types of single and double trailers. Nordic Enterprises has over 100 tractors and trailers. Tractors and trailers are exchanged between our campuses in order to meet student needs and for maintenance and repair.

Class B—Commercial Driver’s License Program

The Class B Commercial Driver’s License Program is a one-week program. Classroom and field training total 40 clock hours. (A clock hour represents 55 contact minutes per hour.) Classroom training is 6 hours. Field training consists of 34 hours of Class B operation instruction. One additional day is set aside at the end of the training for CDL testing as administered by the Department of Motor Vehicles.

The Class B Commercial Driver’s License Program includes an in-depth study of safe driving techniques, air brake systems, loading/unloading, vehicle safety inspection, drug and alcohol awareness and job search and resume preparation. All students receive practical experience operating Class B vehicles on the open road, in highway and heavy traffic conditions. We place a heavy emphasis on safety and emergency procedures. Students who have earned their Commercial Driver’s License and are eligible to graduate will receive a Diploma for successful completion of the course.

Nordic Enterprises students are trained on straight trucks commonly used today in inter-city delivery, moving and storage, and construction. Equipment is exchanged between our campuses in order to meet student needs and for maintenance and repair.

With the successful completion of our program, graduates have the qualifications necessary as an entry-level driver as a Class B Vehicle Operator.
