A great way to celebrate the achievements of your students is to recognize them in an awards ceremony with a printable certificate available at tip.duke.edu/456toolkit. We have included a sample script below to assist you in incorporating this recognition into an existing end-of-year awards ceremony. If you wish to receive updated participation reports, please email 456talentsearch@tip.duke.edu.
Sample script for Recognition Ceremony As part of our awards assembly today, we would like to recognize the students who participated in the 2019 Duke University Talent Identification Program's 4th?6th Grade Talent Search. Duke TIP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving academically gifted and talented students. Built on the foundation of the Duke TIP 7th Grade Talent Search, the 4th?6th Grade Talent Search was launched in 1994 with the goal of identifying academically gifted students at a younger age. Duke TIP works with students, their families, and educators to discover, explore and celebrate students' academic interests at a time when it is important to foster curiosity and build confidence.
To qualify, students meet the following criteria:
? they are in fourth, fifth, or sixth grade ? they have scored at the 95th percentile or above on a standardized achievement, aptitude,
or mental ability test
Not all students who qualify chose to enroll with the 4th?6th Grade Talent Search, however, we would like to recognize those students who enrolled in Duke TIP this year and congratulate them on their accomplishments.
The following students enrolled in the 2019 Duke TIP 4th?6th Grade Talent Search. As I call your name, please come forward to be recognized.
(Read the names of students who enrolled. Initiate applause at end.)
Duke TIP offers participating students an above-level testing experience. I am pleased to recognize the following students for stepping up to the additional academic challenge of taking the PSAT 8/9 test, which is developed by College Board as an assessment typically given to 8th?9th graders. As I call your name, please stand at this time.
(Read the names of students who participated in PSAT 8/9 testing. Initiate applause at end.)
Optional (to recognize students from previous year's enrollment)
Finally, we would also like to recognize students who enrolled in either 2017 or 2018 and are also current participants in the Duke TIP 4th?6th Grade Talent Search.
If you are a current participant in the 4th?6th Grade Talent Search please stand at this time.
(Initiate applause)
Congratulations to all!
