Job Title:Social Worker/Counselor Margaret's Place Revision Date:March 17, 2021Incumbent:Department:Youth Services Location:Cincinnati, OHFLSA Status:ExemptSupervisor:Director, Youth Services & Transform Supervises:N/AJOB SUMMARY The Margaret's Place program addresses the underlying causes of violence and the impact of victimization through a variety of counseling and psycho-educational modalities including art-based interventions: an interactive trauma education/violence prevention curriculum; individual and group counseling; a peer leadership program; school staff, parent and community workshops/outreach; school-wide anti-violence campaigns, and more.?PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESProvide individual and group counseling to students exposed to violence or abuseTeach trauma education/violence prevention curriculum to 7th/9th grade studentsProvide outreach, referrals, and in-school workshops for parents and family membersProvide outreach, referrals, and in-school workshops for school staffAttend school committee and school staff meetings, and develop and maintain relationships and collaborations with school staffDevelop, implement and facilitate a weekly peer leadership group, fieldtrips, and peer leader run eventsDevelop and implement school-wide campaigns and activities with peer leadership group promoting healthy relationships and raising awareness about violence related issuesParticipate in weekly clinical and administrative supervisionParticipate in weekly staff meetingMaintain confidentiality and accurate records and databaseGenerate monthly narrativesParticipate in and/or accommodate on-site program research, evaluation activities, and additional site visitsREQUIREMENTS:Other duties as needed or assigned by the Youth Services DirectorSupport to Management, Supervisors, and StaffClerical/General Administrative Respond to routine emails, phone calls, etc.This job description is not intended to be all inclusive and the employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and other management as required.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/ExperienceMaster's degree in social work, psychology, counseling or creative arts therapy requiredExperience working with adolescents and/or pre-adolescentsFamiliar with issues of trauma (esp. domestic violence/teen relationships abuse), violence prevention, and victimizationStrong counseling and crisis intervention skillsExperience with school-based programming preferredExperience with workshop and/or group facilitationDemonstrates ability to work effectively and collaboratively with othersA strong commitment to providing anti-racist, culturally competent services, as well as a knowledge of systemic issuesAbility to work independently and maintain flexibility for working in a demanding school environmentAbility to be creative in engaging youth individually and in large groupsExhibits professional and ethical behaviorStrong understanding of violence prevention/intervention work preferredKnowledge of social service work with youth preferredIdeal candidates will demonstrate a passion for strength-based, youth empowerment work; will exhibit creativity in their approach of job tasks and challenges; and will be self-motivatedLicenses/Credentials/CertificationsLSW required.
