SUMMARY: The Payroll & Benefits Administrator is primarily responsible to generate, update, and maintain employee payroll records, 401(k) loans and distributions, and flexible spending accounts. This position provides detailed information to assist the plan sponsors and participants in what they need to know.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

| |60% |Administer 401(k) plan, loans and distributions process and/or administer automated time and attendance system, and/or process travel|

| | |reimbursements and train managers on use of system. |

| |10% |Provide support and backup in processing 401(k) loans and distributions and/or administration of automated time and attendance |

| | |system, travel reimbursements and train managers on use of systems. |

| |10% |Reconcile payroll related general ledger accounts; prepares and maintain budgets; reconciles and processes invoices for payment. |

| |10% |Process voluntary employee deductions including but not limited to employee puchasing deductions through payroll process, tracking |

| | |property in payroll system, deducting employee expenses related to health benefits, company required safety equipment, company |

| | |events, etc. |

| |5% |Audits benefit deductions against enrollment records and vendor billings. |

| |5% |Assist the Benefits department in various other payroll and benefit projects as assigned but are not limited to, Benefits Enrollment,|

| | |401(k) enrollment, Wellness Credit tracking etc. |

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

2-year certificate Major: Accounting or Business

3+ years in payroll, including experience with payroll tax laws and 401(k) laws; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with internal and external customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Intermediate Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Ability to proficiently operate Microsoft Office, including but not limited to, Word, Access, Excel, and Power Point.

REASONING ABILITY

Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Procedures are established but conditions change; initiative must be exercised to overcome minor obstacles.

Decisions have a contributory effect on time management, etc., typically effecting day-to-day operations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to effectively manage computer files containing large amounts of data.

• Ability to provide accurate and timely deposits of federal and state taxes, payroll checks, 401(k) loans, distributions and contributions to ensure the general ledger accounts balance.

• Ability to provide the balances of bank statements, general ledger accounts payable accounts and accurately process payroll and 1099Rs on a timely basis.

• Ability to effectively communicate to both current and terminated employees, Alliance Benefit Group and Wellmark.

• Ability to achieve customer satisfaction of employees needing help with loans, payroll changes, paycheck questions, 401(k) web site and 401(k) trades and transfers.

• Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness with customers and peers.

• Ability to provide accurate, professional and error-free documents on a timely basis.

• Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to proficiently operate a personal computer, calculator, phone, copy machine, printer and fax machine.

• Ability to report and transfer voluntary and involuntary deduction information to the correct agencies.

• Ability to supervise staff in the performance of duties such that performance meets or exceeds expectations and to work with others in the attainment of department duties and Organization goals.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION

CPP and/or FPC designation a plus
