For this Gateway Internship, students study a range of topics  towards running an online business. Day Skipper by Distance

Coastguard Boating Education

Day Skipper is CBE’s most popular course and is the best course for those new to boating. It is an introductory course for all members of the family or crew, and applies to a wide range of vessels including yachts, launches, powerboats, jet skis, sea kayaks, and waka.

The course covers boat handling, safety equipment, navigation, tides, weather, rules and regulations, emergencies, and knots. It is a broad course outlining the whole boating experience.

The live sound and Audio engineering programme will run over the course of 10 weeks. This programme will begin term 2 and be offered again in term 3. A STAR course held over one week during school holidays. Students choose either:

EXERCISE (Level 2) focuses on soft-skills and looking at correct exercise techniques for the body. Students will be fully engaged while learning about time management, communication skills, working as an efficient

team member within a group and much more.

COACHING (Level 3) focuses on transferrable skills that can be used in all categories of life. This programme teaches correct coaching of sport players, including competitive sports and learning about injury and risk prevention.

The Learning Place

A fun and active course that helps learners understand the needs of different target groups, develop planning skills and organise and run a recreational activity. Recreational activities can include things like social sports, cooking skills, games, cake decorating, yoga, dance and more. Perfect for learners wanting to improve their overall organisation skills and use these to plan and run an activity.

Course Requirements:

Learners must be year 12 or 13

Learners are required to wear appropriate clothing for recreational activities

Learners will be given $20 to buy the resources needed to run their recreational activity. Learners are expected to purchase these resources themselves, after the first day of the course, and bring their receipts back to the course the next day.

Team Work

The Learning Place

A two day, 10 credit course, that teaches students the key skills involved in working in a team. Often moving into the workplace or interacting with unfamiliar groups can be daunting and challenging. Teamwork explores the dynamics of participating in a team like a workplace or with a group of unfamiliar people. This interactive and fully engaging course, challenges students to get out of their comfort zone and participate in a positive manner in a team environment.
