Information and education on parenting, child development and various health topics are covered in the home or office visits. The trainee will be supervised by the Hualapai Early Childhood Home Visitation Supervisor.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:The Hualapai Early Childhood Home Visitation program utilizes the Parents as Teachers Curriculum (PAT), which is an evidence based model that is used to plan Home/Office Visits with families that live on the Hualapai Indian Reservation. The Home Visitor Trainee will attend a 5-day training prior to performing home/office visits. Additional professional development will be given to the Home Visitor Trainee through workshops, webinars, conferences, team meetings, and in-service trainings.Home Visitor is to provide parent-child interaction activities while promoting positive parenting skills and child development. Utilize the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3 & ASQ-SE) to monitor the child’s development; to be completed for every child enrolled in the program. Home Visitation staff work with other offices such as the Hualapai Head Start, Hualapai Daycare, Cultural Department, Behavioral Health, Indian Health Services, Hualapai Social Services, Arizona Early Intervention Program, Newborn Intensive Care Program, Birth to Five Program, and other offices to provide support for families and children. Supportive services from the offices mentioned above will include referrals, collaboration of events, staff education, and training.Assist in monthly report to HEW Director with caseload information; such as number of completed visits, number of attempted visits, performing outreach to potential clients, activities being performed to sustain family engagement, etc. Participates in and comes prepared for Monthly Reflective Supervision with Home Visitation Supervisor. Attends monthly Regional First Things First, State, Federal, or Tribal meetings when requested.Coordinates and participates in Monthly Group Connections. Office and home based work with frequent sitting, standing, writing, and computer usage. Moderate reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High School Diploma or GED required. Experience working with pregnant women, newborns, infants and toddlers.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Knowledge of and sensitivity to individual/cultural differences and experience of working in the community. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work effectively on a family support team.Ability to establish trusting relationships and interact effectively with familiesOTHER:Maintains a minimum caseload of 8 families. Understand or willing to learn Hualapai culture and apply this to assess the emotional, social and physical needs of the children enrolled in the program. Openness to reflective practice (capacity for introspection and recognition of value of supervisory support).Flexibility in scheduling visits with families (including ability to work evenings).Capability to work in a fast-paced working environment with multitasking many different duties and tasks. Willingness to attend trainings or workshops to enhance knowledge of child development and family well-being.
