El Jefe Cardona

Queridos Padres:I am happy that your child is in my class! By studying Spanish, I believe your student’s mind will expand. Numerous are the reasons for studying foreign language. Some people, as I did, take it to get into college. Some want to improve themselves and communicate further with our fellow world citizens. Some just want to be able to order the good “non-gringo” items at Mexican restaurants!Whatever the reason, your beloved student and I need your help this year. Spanish may have a reputation as the easiest language to learn (that’s another reason I took it), but I guarantee that without studying, it will be exceptionally difficult. Please take note of the following:1. SPANISH IS A CUMULATIVE SUBJECT: what you learn on Day One will be used on Day 1,001 and beyond. Your child cannot afford to fall behind in assignments or in taking class notes. It is incredibly hard to catch up if you allow yourself to fall behind. Reminding your student to keep up with their work now will make his/her life much easier all year.2. I GIVE BACK EVERY GRADED ASSIGNMENT: Please help me and your little darling by checking their homework and their grades every now and then. If I graded it, I returned it. In every quarter, there are usually 20-30 graded assignments.3. INFINITE CAMPUS IS YOUR FRIEND!: I update grades frequently during the quarter. Of course, with Infinite Campus, BOTH you and your student can find out the grade at any point in the semester! 4. COMMUNICATION IS VITAL!: If you need to contact me, then feel free to do so.? My preference is email because I can often give a more thoughtful reply. Phone calls are always welcome, but I will not always have the time to talk. I will always try to reply to you within 24-48 hours. Your voice is important to me. I’m a parent, so I want to treat you the way I would want to be treated. Just email or call using the info below. I want you to have clarity and comfort with what’s happening in class. Please sign and return the form below so that I know that you have read my classroom rules and procedures (on a separate sheet that your child has). Your signature is also part of the first homework assignment for your stupendous student! If you have any questions or concerns for me, contact me during the year at school at 291-6600 ext. 242105 or by email: charles.cardona@. Also, please refer to my website, eljefecardona. for yet even more enlightening details (like how to sign up for my Remind). Please keep this top part of the letter with my contact information! Also, since you have my email address, I would also like you to send me a test email. This will be the start of a great dialogue for us! (It’s also worth something to your student.)Thanks,Sr. Cardona --------------------------(cut here)-------------------------Class Period ______Name of your student:____________________________________________________________Parental/Guardian Signature(s):____________________________________________________Parental/Guardian Printed Name:___________________________________________________Did you…? 1. ___ …read the rules I sent home? 2. ____ …send me a test email? 3.___ …return ONLY the bottom part?Questions?
