Evaluating Websites

KinderArt

| |

|Content |The reading level is appropriate for any teacher, parent, or older student. It is set up in an |

| |understandable and clear format. |

| |The information on the website is appropriate for teachers and parents as it provides numerous lesson |

| |plans, craft ideas, articles, and information about the art world and artists. |

| |The information is very comprehensive. |

| |The information is unbiased as far as I can tell. |

| |The information supports my curriculum objectives in that it provides factual and helpful information |

| |about both art lesson plans and art history. |

| |The content addresses student outcomes in that it provides the expectations and plans for student |

| |lessons. |

| |The information is accurate and appropriate. |

| |The information is organized in a manner that teachers are able to search for exactly what they want |

| |and need. |

|Authenticity | The source of the information is provided by other teachers and put into a comprehensive format by the|

| |KinderArt founders. |

| |It appears as if the website is updated daily. |

| |The intent of the authors is to provide free lesson plans and art ideas for teachers, parents, and |

| |students. |

| |The information is objective. It’s hard to say if it is factual or opinionated as the lessons are art |

| |ideas, not anything that must be based on facts. For the historical lessons they are based on facts. |

| |The facts can be verified with other sources as far as art history and artists’ lessons go. |

| |The contact information is provided. |

| |There are citations of where information was found or of who provided the specific lessons. |

|Learning Strategies |The website addresses all the learning styles in one way or another through the lesson plans presented.|

| |The actual website simply addresses visual needs as it is a compilation of articles and lessons, |

| |nothing auditory or hands on. |

| |All levels of learning are addressed, but particularly the elementary level. |

| |Teachers must know how to use the search engine and how to adapt lesson plans to their own classroom to|

| |use them effectively. |

| |Active learning is required to be able to adequately use the site and its functions. |

| |This site challenges teachers to create interesting and educational lessons. |

|Navigation | The page is well organized in a manner that allows teachers to search for lessons in a number of |

| |different mediums and categories. |

| |There are no pop up windows. |

| |There are links to other educational website and/or contact information for artists and teachers. |

| |The website has a very good search engine. |

| |No plug-ins are necessary. |

| |The site is very easy to navigate. |

| |Teachers could very easily spend hours collecting information and resources on this site, if they so |

| |desired. |

|Graphics | The graphics are appropriate showing both photographs of students in an art setting as well as |

| |examples of the art work for each lesson. |

| |The graphics add to the lessons giving a visual example of what is to be expected. |

| |The graphics do not delay the loading of the site. |

|Appeal |The site looks good and is appealing to the viewer. |

| |There is a good balance of graphics and information, but there is much more written information than |

| |pictures. |

|Availability | The site is readily available and up to date at all times. |

| |I imagine if the site was to change addresses it would either roll over to the new address |

| |automatically or display the new location. However, after using this site for a couple years I have |

| |never had that problem. |
