Entering the same piece in more than one class is not permitted.Copies of set poems are available by emailing Ann Jones at ann.k.jones@ “Own Choice” pieces must be stated on the entry form and cannot be altered at a later date. For copyright purposes, the entry form must state the title or selected text, author and publisher.Music: Do not send adjudicator copies of own choice pieces with entries, these should be provided to the steward before the class. Speech & Drama: Please provide copies of own choice pieces at least 2 weeks before the festival. Pieces must not include any bad language, racist or sexual references which might offend the audience.Time Limits: Time limits vary dependent on the class. Please refer to the class listings for further information. Time limit infringements may be penalised.In acting classes a maximum of two minutes is provided to set the stage. All props required must be supplied by entrants.Music Stands: Instrumentalists and conductors should bring their own music stands.AccompanistChoirs and orchestras must provide their own accompanist and music stands.For other music classes, an accompanist can be provided on request. Accompaniment is charged at ?5 per person per class. There is a maximum cost of ?10 per person e.g. an individual entering 3 or more classes will pay only ?10.Accompaniment on CD or other electronic music device e.g. iPod, mp3 player, mobile phone etc. is not permitted.Please include a copy of pieces requiring the official accompanist with entry form. Music should clearly state the competitor’s name and class code and be marked with any necessary performance directions. Please ensure all the edges/tops/bottoms of all the pages are present.CopyrightIt is illegal to photocopy music unless permission has been obtained from the copyright owner in writing, but the Music Publishers Association has issued a revised Code of Practice and consequently a concession is made for copying from volumes only; “when an own choice work is selected from a publication containing several different works, which is not published separately, one copy may be made for the use of an adjudicator at a competition or festival provided that the competitor or participant has already purchased their own copy. The copy should be destroyed after the event.” To qualify for copyright indemnity, dramatic items should be announced with the title and author at the start of the performance.Festival SpectatorsAt all venues spectators are invited to watch classes and support entrants. Patrons and sponsors have free entry to all sessions.Entry to a session remains at ?1.50 per person with under 12s free. Adult day tickets for entry to all sessions cost ?2.50 per person per day. A festival pass will also be available at the cost of ?5.00 which will allow access for one adult for all sessions with the exception of the Festival Concert.Multimedia RecordingPhotography/video recording/digital imaging of any kind during performances is not permitted. Those taking part in the final concert may be photographed by the local media or an accredited photographer prior to the concert. Please advise the Festival Officer present if you do not wish your child’s photograph to be taken.ProgrammesProgrammes are published shortly before the Festival incorporating all classes and entrants for both the Music and Speech & Drama elements of the Festival. Programmes are available during the Festival at a cost of ?2.00.PatronsWe are always keen to welcome new Patrons whose support of the Festival is invaluable. The annual subscription is ?15-00 for a single Patron and ?25-00 for a family. Patrons are entitled to a complimentary programme and free entry to all of the Festival’s classes and the Final Concert. John Ogdon studied at the Royal Manchester College of Music and made his sensational debut at the 1958 Proms. He won the Liszt Prize in Budapest in 1961 and went on to share the first prize with Vladimir Ashkenazy in the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in 1962.Entry criteria:Students, who were born, are resident, or studying music in Mansfield are eligible to apply for an award. Auditions will be held at the Mansfield and Music Drama Festival.Junior Awards 14 – 16 year olds Minimum requirement is a pass at Grade 5 ABRSM or equivalent. A ten minute programme.Senior Awards 17 – 21 year oldsMinimum requirement is a pass at Grade 7 ABRSM or equivalent.
