Troy Varker – All Star ComicsWe’re a specialty comic book store and we really focus on new comics and new graphic novels.We looked at the QuickBiz Loan and thought that was perfect for us, because we have one massive day a year, which is Free Comic Book Day. Basically, no matter how much stock you have for that day, you can never have enough. So we just punched all the numbers into the computer and, a very easy process, gave us that quick cash injection and meant that we could get the stock that we needed and recoup the money pretty quickly. And just knowing that we haven’t put ourselves into credit card debt – we’re very happy about that.We started the business five years ago, my partner Mitch Davies and I. Never having gone to uni, and not having any business background, we’ve just had to kind of fly by the seat of our pants. We’ve actually grown quite a lot in that five years, and now we’re in a space that’s four times bigger than our original store.We really like the idea of the store being a hub for people. It’s a meeting place and people do get to interact. Melbourne’s got quite a big comic culture, so anything that you can do to set yourself apart is great.We’ve had great success with, you know, local comic book launches, and the QuickBiz Loan, that’s something that we could look at again down the track to fund international guests coming out for signings. There’s plenty of ideas. ................
