GOD'S CREATION
Book 1
To the teacher:
God has told us in His Word what He wants us to know. Sometimes we would like to know more than He has told us, but in Ecclesiastes 8:17, Solomon, the wisest man, wrote by God's instructions, “Then I beheld the works of God, that man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun, because though a man labor to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yes, farther, though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it." Also, read Romans 11:33-36).)
So, we accept God's word by faith. "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear" (Hebrews 11:3).
You are encouraged to read and reread the scriptural references to the Bible. You recognize the importance of being very familiar with the entire lesson.
For each lesson, help your students to learn the memory verses. Genesis 1:1 is very important.
Please give your students time to respond to the questions throughout the lessons. That is their participation.
While studying lessons eight and nine, encourage your students to bring small things to class to show how God has lovingly made them.
God loves you and will bless you as you teach about his creation!

GOD TAKES CARE OF HIS CHILDREN
Book 2
These stories that we are going to enjoy are in the Bible. The Bible is the word of God. God's book or Bible has two main parts. They are the Old Testament and New Testament. These stories are in the Old Testament. They happened a long time ago. The people who lived then had different ways of living than many people today. These stories are true because God gave them to us. They show us how God takes care of his children. These things really happened. Enjoy them!
To the teacher:
Explain to your students that the people in these Old Testament stories lived many years ago. There ways of living were much different from most people's today. Some things in our stories may seem strange to them.
You are encouraged to read the scripture references in the Bible. You recognize the importance of being very familiar with the entire lesson.
For each lesson help your students to learn the memory verse, then, let them say it in unison. Some will want to say it individually. In the memory verses, the love of God is being stressed.
If the students do not know an answer to the oral questions, go back and read that part of the story. Then, they can answer.
As your students tell how they think someone in the story felt, keep in mind that most of these characters were people of great faith.
If you think some of the stories are too long, read half of the stories and ask the questions for that part, then finish the stories and the other questions.
Teach your students to say the books of the New Testament only a few at a time.

Teacher's Guide
To the teacher:
Explain to your students that Jesus was born nearly two thousand years ago. They way they dressed and their customs (ways of living) were much different from many places today. That is the reason some things in our lessons may seem strange to them.
You are encouraged to read the scripture reference for each lesson for yourself. You recognize the importance to being very familiar with the entire lesson.
For each lesson, help your students to learn the memory verse. Then let them say it in unison. Some will want to say it individually. Each day have them say the previous memory verses.
You alone can judge your student's readiness to read this material. Read the story to them. Perhaps they can follow while you read. You may have to read the exercises to them, too.
If the students do not know any answer to the oral questions, instead of telling them the answer, go back and red that part of the story. Then, they can answer.
After finishing each set of sentences, go over them again to correct any errors.
Teach your students to say the books of the New Testament in order just a few at a time each day. then, have them to look at the words as they say them. This will enable them to know these words and to find them in the New Testament.

Teacher's Guide
Encourage your students to read aloud, in turn, each scripture reference. After reading each reference, help them to retell the story and work the exercises before going on to the next scripture reference.
Then, let them read the sentences aloud and let each one check his own work.
Memory Verses: Say the verse over and over with them until they learn it. They may want to say it in unison. Some may want to say it by themselves.
Learning the books of the New Testament in order is very important so that the learner may find any book, chapter, and verse he wants to find.
The books should be said over and over. Insist that your students look at the words for the books in the front of their booklets as they say the words. This is necessary so they will be able to find the book they want to find.
Then, have your students find certain books, chapters, adn verses as you call for them. Example: Find Luke, chapter 16, verse 13. This gives them good practice. At this time, it is not necessary to read the verses they find.

Jesus Was Humble
Always read the scriptures together. Then, help your pupils to retell each story (Mark 10:35-45).
Two of Jesus' Apostles, James and John, came to Jesus wanting him to give them special honor in his kingdom. They thought his kingdom would be a earthly kingdom with Jesus sitting on a throne as king here on earth, so they wanted Him to give them the highest honor He could give. They wanted to sit on His left hand and His right hand. This displeased the other apostles. Perhaps they wanted that honor, too.
Jesus did not give them their desire. His kingdom is not of this world. He told them if they wanted to be great, they must serve or help others. For Jesus, who is the Son of God, did not come to be served, but to serve others and to give His life for others. This is being humble.

Teacher's Guide
To learn the New Testament's 27 books, your students need to repeat them several times each day while looking at the names of the books in the front of their booklet. In this way they will be able to recognize these books in the New Testament.
Give them time to learn the memory verse and say it.
Read the scripture reference together, then guide your students in the retelling of the parable before they work the sentences.
After they have worked the exercises, it will be of value to reread the sentences again as this will tell the parable again.

The Parable of the Pharisee and the Publican

The Pharisees were one of the sects of the Jews during the time of Jesus. They were very pious and had many rules they followed. The Jews despised publicans who were tax collectors for the Roman empire. Sometimes the publicans were dishonest.

The House on the Rock and the House on the Sand
Matthew 7:21–29
Through the years, people have thought of rocks as a place of security. They thought of people running to rocks for shelter. In Psalms, David spoke of God as his rock and his fortress. When people build their houses, they dig down deep to solid, firm ground so there can be a good foundation for their houses. If a house is built on sand, the foundation will not be secure. The home will shift and soon fall when storms come.

Take your students carefully through this lesson as it may be a little difficult. Read Matthew 5:1–12 together. Explain as you read.
Poor in spirit is humbleness. Those who mourn are those who are sorry for their sins and try to do better. The meek are gentle and kind, but stand for righteousness. Those who hunger and thirst after right–doing long to know God's will and search for it in God's word, the Bible. The merciful do unto others as they want to be treated. The pure in heart are trying to please God by leading a clean, upright life. The persecuted are being mistreated because they are Christians living for Jesus.

Salt is used to preserve and save some foods from spoiling and to give flavor to food. Hence, Christians, with their good lives and teaching Jesus' word, help to save sinners. They help to make life more worthwhile.
Light dispels darkness. When light appears, there is no darkness. In darkness, we stumble. Light shows the way. So Christians through their good works show the world what Jesus' will is.

Other Teachings of Jesus
To help you explain some words and ideas in this lesson: the Jews were looking for a king to restore their nation to them. The apostles were thinking that way, too. But, of course, Jesus' kingdom is spiritual. It is the same as His church.
Ransom is the act of redeeming a captive. Each of us is a captive of sin. Jesus paid the price for us so we can be set free.
A shepherd looks after his sheep by caring for and feeding them. When they are brought in from the pastures, they stay in the sheepfold where they are safe.

Teacher's Guide
For each lesson, help your students read each scripture reference. Then, after each reading, help them to retell the story orally before they do the exercises.
Give them time to learn the memory verse. Perhaps they can say it together. Some may want to say it by themselves.
After they have completed the exercises (sentences) it is good to have the class read the sentences aloud. This will correct any errors they have made.
Allow them to use their New Testament to do the exercises. The purpose of these lessons is to learn about Jesus and His love and to love Him.
When your students are repeating the books of the Bible, they need to look at the written names of the books in the front of their booklets.

Suggestions: When your students are learning the books of the bible, have them look at the words as they say them so they will know them when looking for certain scriptures.
At the end of most lessons, scriptures from the Old Testament are listed. This will be good practice if the Old Testament is available.
Read the scriptures together that are listed for each lesson. Then, guide your students in retelling each story before they work the exercises.
Allow them to use their New Testaments to find the answers and for spelling.
After the exercises have been completed, read them aloud in class. In this way they can check their own work and correct any errors.

The Pharisees were a religious sect of the Jews who were self–righteous. They made many rules to keep that were not a part of God's law.
Scribes kept official records for the Jewish nation; they were teachers of the Jewish law.
To seek means to look for; to try to find.
A flock of sheep means a group of sheep.
Where there is a famine there is not much food to eat, possibly due to lack of rain.
At a feast there is much food to eat.
To repent means to be sorry enough for sins that you determine to quit sinning and determine to do right with God's help. Jesus died in our place; so He gave His life as a ransom (price paid to redeem a prisoner or slave) for us.

Why Jesus' Covenant is Better Than
the Old Covenant
Some words to help your students understand:
Surety means that which makes certain for sure.
Sanctify means to make free of sin.
Redeem means to buy back something. Jesus gave himself as a sacrifice to God to buy us back from sin.
Intercession is pleading on behalf of another.
An anchor is a heavy instrument (tool) that is let down in the water to keep a ship in one place, to keep it from drifting. So, hope of heaven is an anchor of the soul, keeping that person faithful to Christ. Hebrews 9:13: Paul says that since the blood of animals purified the flesh, so the precious blood of Christ can cleanse the heart of sins.
