Adjustments to terms and conditions as of 12th October 2009

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE ORDERING FROM AQUABID!

Adjustments to terms and conditions as of 12th September 2011

There are 4 main stages in importing fish from Aquabid/EBay/Private sellers

1. You select the fish, win the bid and pay the seller. You then let

the seller know that the fish needs to be transhipped by Preecha in

Thailand. (ammara555@)

2. You send a list of the fish and the seller’s information to me (fishchick@)

3. The fish is exported (as part of a large general fish shipment),

imported and quarantined in Brisbane, QLD

4. Payment for transhipping, importing/quarantine and local transport are made to me and then the fish are sent to you. (that is, the cost of importing and the cost of local transport to get the fish from Brisbane, to your location)

Fish can only be imported from Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Terms and Conditions:

Please read the following information. If you elect to have me import the fish you are deemed to have agreed with these terms and conditions.

To bring fish into Australia you need to go through an authorized importer with quarantine facilities.

Fish cannot be sent direct. (eg via Fedex, EMS) If you do so you may be fined and the fish WILL be confiscated and destroyed.

The importing and quarantine charges are as follows:

$27.50AU ea

Male Halfmoon (HM)

Male Doubletail HM (DTHM)

Male Crowntails (CTM)

male and female Giant Plakats

all large wild bettas (eg Mouthbrooders like Unimac)

$22AU ea

Female Crowntail (CTM)

Female HM (HMF)

Male and female Plakats

small wild bettas (eg Bubble nesters like coccina).

This covers the transhipper fee, cost of local and international health certificates, packing charges, airport duties, freight, exporter handling and documentation fee, customs clearance and AQIS clearance in Australia, customs broker fees, all taxes and 7 days quarantine (including food, care, medication and labour costs).

The $5US per fish transhipping fee advertised on most auctions does not apply to fish for Australia. This fee is to cover the cost of getting the fish to the transhipper in America.

A fee may apply for purchases from Indonesia as they have to send the fish to the transhipper in Thailand.

Once you have purchased your fish tell the seller to hand it to the transhipper near the time of export. This is Preecha Ammara in Bangkok (ammara555@)

A health certificate will be organised. Then the Aquabid shipment will join the main consignment and be exported to Australia.

The consignment is inspected at the Brisbane airport. Once permitted entry, the fish stay for 7 days in quarantine. When released from Quarantine the fish are sent to you.

Please note it can take several days from the time the fish are packed by the seller/transhipper until they are unpacked in quarantine. It is important for the seller to fast the fish and pack in clean, ketapang rich water.

Keep in mind that sometimes fish die in transit...the package is mishandled, temperature differences between the two locations are too extreme, fish is weak etc and many, many other reasons.

Frustratingly some fish seem to just die from the stress of being shipped. There is no obvious reason.

Tropical fish, even the hardy betta, are very delicate creatures. When you purchase a betta and elect to have me import it for you, you are automatically acknowledging that you know and accept these risks.

I am NOT responsible for fish that arrive with chewed or damaged tails, fish that will not eat, breed, or generally fail to thrive after they arrive.

The majority of fin damage occurs in transit. Very few fish chew in quarantine.

During quarantine fish are individually housed, in water treated with

ketapang, salt and medication as required.. All bettas are water changed at least twice a week and fed 3-4 times with Atison Betta Pro pellets.

If your fish arrives from the sellers sick, I will treat it as best I can. The fish will be shipped if it is strong enough at the end of the quarantine period. If the fish dies it will be considered DOA.

Please confirm with the seller what their DOA policy is BEFORE the fish are sent. (preferably before bidding)

Fish classed as DOA incur a $5 import fee only. There are real, hard costs associated with importing each fish - I choose to absorb most of these costs and accept responsibility for this, even though the fault may not be mine. This is optional and purely my choice as a favour to buyers. It can be revoked!

Fish that are sent as a gift, replacements etc incur the standard importing fee.

Please note: these are YOUR fish. It is NOT my responsibility to chase up the seller if your fish is DOA, damaged, not sent, or not what you expected. I WILL NOT hold fish while you argue with the seller – if you suspect you have been sent the wrong fish you need to sort this out AFTER you receive the fish.

As soon as the quarantine period has elapsed the fish will be sent. We DO NOT take photos etc of damaged or “wrong fish” – this is YOUR responsibility, and a risk you accept when you buy fish from overseas suppliers.

Please keep in mind that any betta with marble colour or butterfly pattern can change colour dramatically from when you purchased to when you receive.

Please use other indicators (fins and body shape, ray count and branching etc) to determine if it is the same fish before you complain to the seller, or accuse me of sending you the wrong fish.

***

During the quarantine period I catalogue the fish and send a list and condition report to all buyers. Once the buyer confirms the list, an invoice is sent.

Please be patient - shipments often require me to work 24 - 36 hrs straight to get everything unpacked as quickly as possible. Badgering me with emails, SMS and phone calls about your fish DOES NOT speed up the process!

Buyers have 1 week from receipt of invoice to make payment and arrange to receive the fish (local freight)

If payment is not received in this time the fish will be sold to cover costs. This is not a fish minding business. It is your responsibility to liaise with the seller and find out when the fish are most likely to be sent.

PLEASE KEEP UP TO DATE WITH SHIPMENT DATES. DO NOT ORDER FISH IF YOU ARE LIKELY TO GO ON HOLIDAYS IN THE NEXT 2 MONTHS!!!

If you are unable to receive them please organise a friend or relative who can.

If you cannot pay for and receive the fish in the time frame allotted, but still intend to purchase, we will hold the fish for an extra week for the fee of $1 per fish per day. Maximum of 7 days only - unless payment received up front.

Payment can be made via direct deposit or paypal

(+3% to cover paypal costs).

No other payment method will be accepted.

Fish to Perth need to be inspected by AQIS before they can be released. For this reason fish can only be sent and arrive on a weekday. It is usually an overnight journey.

Fish are usually consigned the night before, for arrival the next day.

I will text the con note number to you when the fish leave.

I have had shipments take 2 days as sometimes they are put on the wrong flight.

I have also had one shipment stolen - AAE gave the box to the wrong person. I am not all that impressed with the AAE group in Perth, so you will need to chase them up and make sure all goes well.

Remember also that AQIS officers are public servants – don’t expect much after 3pm on a Friday.

Cairns AaE also leave a lot to be desired.

Other remote areas and country towns may be serviced by bus.

Brisbane orders can be collected from shop 17/478 Ipswich Road, Annerley, or sent by courier.

For an accurate quote please supply your postcode AND suburb.

NB: You MUST let us know how many fish you have purchased as soon as the payment to the seller has been finalized.

If you do not contact us with total numbers before the shipment your fish WILL NOT be included.

Shipments to Australia occur every 3-4 weeks

All prices, terms and conditions subject to change without notice.

Please let me know if there is anything else you require.

Best regards, Jodi-Lea

NB: Do not send money to any seller via Western Union – if a seller asks you to do so please contact me first!

If the seller insists, or berates you with sob stories

WALK AWAY FROM THE DEAL. DO NOT SEND EXTRA MONEY VIA WESTERN UNION.

Please note - I AM NOT the seller! If you have an issue with the fish/purchase/payment/quality/wrong order etc YOU need to contact the seller and sort out the problem. I DO NOT know the history of the fish, its age, whether or not there are sibling females available, if it has bred before etc. These are questions for THE SELLER.

If the fish is DOA I will send you the photos - YOU need to send these to the seller and discuss what to do.

If I do not reply within 48hrs, resend your email, it is probably 2 pages down and has been overlooked.
