INTRODUCTION: Ecosystems are constantly changing in response to natural and human disturbances. As an ecosystem changes, older inhabitants gradually die out and new organisms move in, causing further changes in the community. This series of predictable changes that occurs in a community over time is called ecological succession.

MATERIALS: 1. 2 diagrams 2. Glue stick 3. Scissors

PROCEDURES: 1. Cut along the lines on the 2 diagrams. 2. Mix the pieces together. 3. Arrange the primary succession diagram in the correct order. 4. Glue them in the proper order on your paper (under the label primary succession). 5. Arrange the secondary succession diagram in the correct order. 6. Glue them in the proper order on your paper (under the label secondary succession). 7. Answer the questions.
