Economic Impact Estimates for East Tennessee State University

The following estimates show the economic impact due to the operations of East Tennessee State University from 1995 to 2011. The impacts are estimated for the region of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, which includes all of the Tri-Cities metropolitan area. The impacts are developed using the RIMS II procedures created and used by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. The impacts are in terms of Total Impact (Production), Household Income, and Employment (full time equivalent, or “FTE”). The impact figures include both direct and indirect impacts combined. Note that “Year” refers to a fiscal year – for example 2005 is based on the 2004-05 fiscal year.

9. This is the 2010/11 benchmark study which was completed in February 2012. This study uses a more current set of RIMS II multipliers than the 2003/04 benchmark.
