18th November 2019Dear Parent/ Carer,Examinations update 2020Please find detailed in this letter important information relating to students taking external examinations during May and June 2020.Review of Centre Assessed workAll internally assessed work which forms part of a GCE or GCSE qualification, will be internally marked by Prince Henry’s High School. Students have the right to launch an internal review of the awarded marks if they believe the mark scheme has not been correctly applied. Any appeal for review of marks must be made within 48 hours of your son/daughter requesting copies of materials to assist them in considering an appeal against their raw internally assessment mark. A form needs to be completed and this will be available from the examinations office. After candidates’ work has been internally assessed, it is moderated by the awarding body to ensure consistency in marking between centres. The moderation process may lead to mark changes. This process is outside the control of Prince Henry’s High School and is not covered by this procedure. Candidates ResultsAny results achieved by a student must be collected by them on results days. If a student is unable to collect their results, authorisation maybe given to a family member; a letter will need to be provided to the Exams office in advance to request permission. Any results not collected will be sent out in the post. Students have ownership of their results, however if the student is under 18 years of age parents with parental responsibility; have the legal right to obtain a copy of the results if they are requested, this also applies to non-resident parents.Examinations Contingency planAs previously communicated, the awarding bodies (AQA, OCR, Edexcel & WJEC) have nominated a contingency day which can be utilised in the event of a major national or local disruption to the examination timetable. The Awarding Bodies have requested that all students remain available until Wednesday 24th June 2020 should an awarding body need to invoke its contingency plan.
