Congratulations! You have chosen an innovative and unique program within Fresno Unified School District to complete your required internship hours. The Project Based Internship experience will allow you to maximize your professional growth as well as fulfill your required competencies. As an intern, you will be:

• Assigned to a counselor and “home school”, but also move as a cohort to schools who have urgent needs. (priority placement)

• Provided an Intentional Guidance Plan based on the National Standards for Public School Counseling and the Fresno Unified School District Comprehensive Counseling Program.

• Introduced to data driven service using unique FUSD monitoring tools designed to reflect on the equity and access of school programs

• Asked to attend trainings:

• ATLAS (Student information system)

• Transcript Analysis

• A-G

• Career Cruising

• District wide counseling meetings and trainings

• Have an opportunity to work in College and Career Readiness

The Common, Prescriptive, and Career Guidance Plan for 2017-18 is based on our current data dashboard counseling indicators. We are focused on improving our A-G completion, graduation rates and providing the widest array of options for our students after high school. You will be working with your assigned counselor using data to provide counseling services to targeted groups. You will collaborate with your assigned counseling team, reflecting on the work and its impact on student achievement.

Examples of services are listed below:

• Complete a career skills assessment and college exploration.

• Focus on appropriate course placement and support for each individual student.

• Ensure that each student is aware of all support services provided by the school site, particularly tutorial services.

• Ensure that each individual student is aware and participates in clubs, athletics and other co-curricular activities for a resume building process.

• Assist in completing a grade level conference with students and parents.

• Leadership opportunities.

• Assist students with FAFSA, college applications, SAT/ACT test registration, scholarships, and letters of recommendation.

• Action research and data mining.
