CONFERENCE INFORMATION

WHY ATTEND

the 2019 AANP Fall Conference?

?Select from four topical areas and more than 70 sessions and hands-on workshops for diverse, advanced learning opportunities.

? Earn up to 21 hours of continuing education (CE) credit, pending approval by AANP (includes all sessions and workshops Thursday through Sunday).

? Find opportunities for collegial networking with hundreds of nurse practitioners (NPs).

? Experience Las Vegas with NPs from across the country who share your interest in high-quality education, information sharing and leadership skills.

TOPICAL AREAS

Cardiometabolic

Cardiometabolic Syndrome (CMS) is a widely recognized syndrome inclusive of a combination of metabolic dysfunctions, such as insulin resistance, diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension and obesity. These states have been identified as risk factors for the development of atherosclerotic disease. These sessions cover the environments, diets, lifestyles and genetic and epigenetic factors that may combine to cause cardiometabolic diseases. Attendees will examine current evidence, treatment modalities across the spectrum and new developments in disease identification, as well as the intersections between the nuances of cardiometabolic illnesses and wellness.

"I enjoy coming to the AANP conferences; there's so much that they offer. As nursing professionals, we are lifelong learners, and it's so important for us to remain current."

BRENDA D.

New Jersey Member since 2007

Pharmacology

As prescribers of medication, it is critical for NPs to not only know the correct drugs but to incorporate an understanding of pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and clinical science. The pharmacology sessions offered at the fall conference provide attendees with a wide variety of clinical topics to enhance the advanced knowledge required to prescribe safely.

Workshops

New this year, six workshops have been added to the conference schedule. Thank you to the 2019 Fall Conference Committee, who wished to include these advanced-level workshops on a number of popular topics, including suturing, biopsy, ultrasound, neurologic exams and more. Designed to support in-depth discussion and hands-on learning opportunities, workshops are subject to an additional fee of $125.

Leadership

In collaboration with George Washington University (GWU), attendees have the opportunity to register for 12 bundled sessions to earn an "AANP Introductory Certificate in Leadership." To be eligible for AANP's upcoming advanced NP leadership program, currently in development, AANP members will need to earn this Introductory Certificate. As you are selecting your sessions, simply choose the first presentation, F19.1.007 Leaders as Change Agents: How Do You Wear Change? (Certificate), and you will be automatically registered for all 12 GWU sessions. Are you interested in the fundamentals of leadership but do not wish to earn the "AANP Introductory Certificate in Leadership?" A number of additional sessions are available for new and emerging leaders! Add one--or more--to your schedule to expand your knowledge, or attend them all to become a true leader of tomorrow.
