Classroom Management Plan:I believe that Classroom Management is the most vital factor for creating a positive learning environment.? If the students in my classroom are comfortable, they will be more inclined to learn.? The positive environment will prevent the students from having any doubt in their educational abilities.? The students of the class will feel comfortable learning around their peers.Room Arrangements:Students will enter my classroom and experience a positive atmosphere.? When they walk in they will see that the desks are arranged in a U-shape so that we are able to have open discussions.? This gives the students the opportunity to have a controlled, educational discussion with someone across the room during class.? This also leaves room for me to be in the middle while teaching and also allows easy access to each student’s desk.? I will have the ability to walk around and help each student.? On the walls there will be posters that pertain to some of the year’s lessons.? I will also have famous quotes that I have found useful and inspirational on the walls.? One of my favorite quotes that will be hung up is by John Wooden, “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” My desk will be in the front right corner, but you will rarely see me at the desk.? I will be walking around observing students, helping them, and engaging in their discussions.? My desk is there for paperwork, attendance sheets, and grade books.? I will not be a teacher that sits at the desks and talks to the students or tells them to copy what’s on the board.? Students will do numerous group activities where I will challenge them to debate certain topics.? They will debate these topics with other groups of their peers across the room.? Classroom Rules:The students in our classroom should enjoy their learning experience.? As I previously stated, the students comfort is my goal toward helping them to learn.? I want the students to escape all of the outside pressures of not only being a teenager, but of the world.? Our classroom will serve as their getaway from reality.? They will not have to worry about being judged for the wrong answer, as long as they are showing effort.? We will respect each other and each other’s property.? If we can respect each other and come to the understanding that we are all different, than the classroom will be a better place.? I would like to implement a constitution that I learned from a professor of mine.? I will give students the opportunity to work together on creating a classroom constitution.? Students will agree on a list of the most important rules in which they feel should be followed.? They will present the rules to me and also their reasons why they feel each rule is important.? I will have the final decision on what rules we will use.? There may be some rules in which we meet in the middle and come up with a better interpretation of the rule.? I feel that this will make the students feel that they have more freedom and can relax in the classroom.? The students will not feel as if they are being told what to do at all times of the day.? If they break a rule, it will be one in which they implemented.Classroom Procedures:Preparation is key to success.? I believe that a student is unable to reach their full potential without being well organized and prepared.? They may be successful but never to their full potential. The students can’t be organized and prepared if the teacher is not.? We will have a daily and weekly agenda board in the front of the classroom that will be reviewed.? Students will begin each class by taking down the daily agenda as part of the warm up.? In the daily agenda, we will include what we hope to accomplish, any class work that is due that day, any possible interruptions in the schedule (trips or assemblies), and an inspirational quote.? As for the weekly agenda, we will include our weekly assignment (which we will get to), goals for the week, and any trips or assemblies for that week.? This gives the students the opportunity to keep track of their work by seeing it daily.? We will also work with each other on staying organized by having weekly binder checks.? This will give the students the opportunity to throw out anything that they do not need in their binders.? This will also give them time to clean everything up and make sure all notes and handouts are in order.? Homework has never been on my system of grading.? We don’t know what occurs in our student’s home life.? We may have an idea, but we can never be sure of exactly what circumstances our students may be dealing with at home.? For many students, school is an escape from an awful setting.? Homework can be beneficial, but if it’s included in grading it can also negatively affect a student.? This is why binder checks are done, because students are most likely not going to organize at home.? There may be times in which I give the students plenty of class time to finish an assignment and inform them that if the work is not finished, it will be homework.? This is simply a motivational tool.? Students will have weekly assignments that are distributed Monday, and will be presented on Friday.? Students will have plenty of opportunities to complete these assignments in class.? I understand that some students may have a fear of speaking in front of the class, but that is why I want everyone to feel comfortable in the class. The grading will not be based off of the presentation, rather the completion of the project and how much time and effort it shows.? This will be a fun project in which the students can choose their topic based off what we are currently studying.? A method that I will use to wrap up the class will be a fun review of the day’s discussion.? I will begin this wrap up by giving a quick review of the topics, followed by some opinion and questions on the topic.? This now becomes an open discussion between the students, at which time I will be serving as the mediator.? Students should feel comfortable with their thoughts and beliefs.? My grading policy is not that of a typical teacher.? Since I want the students to participate and be open about their thoughts, I will lean my grading policy toward discussions and projects.? ????????? Tests and quizzes??????? 20%????????? Weekly Projects????????? 30%????????? Daily Assignments????? 30%????????? Participation??????????????? 20%Encouraging Students/Positive ReinforcementStudents are encouraged to participate in class.? I have noticed that students react well to positive reinforcement.? Most students get attention or in trouble for the negative behavior, but if we direct the attention to the students for positive behavior it will create a positive environment for them.? Some students are desperate for attention and their method of getting that attention is oftentimes through negative behavior.? But, if we are able to display to them that positive behavior gets our attention, we can alter their behavior.? Some students enjoy the feeling of responsibility.? For the students that enjoy this, we will provide them with small jobs such as passing out assignments, taking any paperwork to the office that is necessary, and cleaning off the board.? These responsibilities may make a student’s day as they are being shown the attention that they desire, while also the feelings of importance and accomplishment.? I have learned by working with a teacher how students and parents react to a positive phone call home.? Students are used to teachers making calls home to inform the parents of bad behavior or failing grades, but studies have shown that a positive phone call home is beneficial.? Students are excited that their parents hear about all of the hard work that they are doing at school.? We will cover a variety of topics in class, including topics that I have learned that the students enjoy.? ?We will try to incorporate student’s hobbies and interests in discussion as much as possible.? Anyway that you can relate education to a topic of student interest will keep them more engaged and motivated.? As we know, students have different ways of learning, but for most students if you find a way to get their attention then they will learn.? Conclusion:I feel that the learning environment that the teacher provides for the students is the first step to a successful student.? My classroom environment is one that provides the most comfortable experience possible.? Students will enter my classroom and lose all thoughts of the negative atmosphere outside.? I will be fair, consistent, and positive with the students.? We will respect each other in class and work together in the learning process. ................
