29th ANNUAL “GOLFING FOR GRANTS” TOURNAMENT

RAISES FUNDS FOR CARTERET COMMUNITY FOUNDATION!

This year’s Golfing for Grants event hosted 72 Carteret County golfers in an afternoon tournament hosted by the Carteret Community Foundation on Thursday, May 7.

The Morehead City County Club was the scene of the 29th annual golf tournament benefitting the Carteret Community Foundation’s community grantmaking fund with featured prizes for the top teams.

This year’s winners were as follows: 1st place -- Jay Rogerson, Charles Askew, Wes Williams and N.R. Hardison of Williamston, who won four rounds of golf on Pinehurst #2. 2nd place winners included Corey Lewis, Dick Lewis, John Gainey and Skip Sprinkler of Carteret County. Closest to the Pin winners included: Dick Lewis at hole #2, Dewayne Rennwald at hole #5, Brad Piner at hole #3, Jake Oliver at hole #10 and Jerry Roberson at hole #15. Steven Chalk won the prize for the longest drive.

“All of the golfers enjoyed a beautiful spring day to support a great charitable effort,” said Richard McIntyre, Carteret Community Foundation president. “The funds raised at this tournament will be used to award local grants this fall.”
