• Received the Korea Literature Translation Institute’s Research Award for one month- long research and translation training on Korean poetry in Seoul, Korea. KLTI invited me, and the training started on December 16th, 2010 and ended on January 9th, 2011.

• Received CDF funding to get trained as Korean languages instructor in Yonsei Univeristy, Seoul, Korea, in July 2005.

• Received the 12th Annual Dae San Literature Award in the category of the Best Translation for the translation of Yi Sang’s A Vista de Cuervo y Otros Poemas. The award ceremony was held on November 26, 2004 in Seoul, Korea.

• Awarded with the Sabbatical leave (starting from July 2004 through August 2005) for the proposed research project on “Poetry in Zen Culture, Western Avant-garde and Hispanic Literature,” May 2004.

• Received The Krause Foundation Award for Performance Incentive from The Citadel, Nov. 3, 2003.

• Received The Citadel Development Foundation Research Grant every year to read research papers at conferences since 1992.

• In December 2000, received Korean Literature Translation Institute Award from a Korean Government Agency, for the translation of Yi Sang's poetic anthology into Spanish and its publication in Spain.

• Research Award by CDF for the publication of my book entitled Poesía y Zen: Antología Crítica de Poesía Zen de China, Corea y Japón, published by Editorial Verbum, Madrid, Spain in 2001.

• Received The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award established by the New York Southern Society on the recommendation of the President in 1998. This is the highest honor given annually since 1925 by the President of The Citadel for service to the cadets and to the community.

• Research Award by CDF for the publication of my book entitled Surrealismo y Budismo Zen: Convergencias y Divergencias, published by Editorial Verbum, Madrid, Spain in 1997.

In order to meet the need of The Citadel, I was trained to teach Korean language at The Institute of Language Research and Education in Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea. The training session lasted for one month covering 17 different subject matters. I received CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION on August 19, 2005.
