Juan Carlos Monedero (Madrid) has a degree in Political Science and Sociology at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He did his postgraduate studies at the University of Heidelberg (Germany), and has been guest lecturer at the Institute of Political Studies at Humboldt University in Berlin (directed by Professor Claus Offe).

It has also been visiting professor at the National University of Quilmes (Argentina), Universidad Nacional de Medellin (Colombia), the Universidad Iberoamericana in Puebla (Mexico), Universidad Nacional de Córdoba y Nacional de Buenos Aires (Argentina) and the Bolivarian Universities and in Central Venezuela, where he has given lectures, seminars and regular courses. His doctoral thesis on the downfall of the German Democratic Republic was rated excellent cum laude.

He is currently Professor of Political Science and Public Administration at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He has two Resarch Sections (sexenios).

He is director of the Department of Government, Public Policy and Global Citizenship at the Complutense Institute of International Studies, and has been Educational Coordinator in the International Centre Miranda in Caracas (Venezuela). In this framework he has also been the responsible for the Diploma of Government and Citizen Power training of technical and political issues, in order to increase the institutional and political capacity of civil servants in Venezuela and Ecuador.

. He was responsible for the Spanish team of the European Central Bank to study and monitor the implementation of the Euro in Spain (European Institute of Florence and the European Central Bank, 1998-2003).

. He also has been an international observer in Venezuela, Mexico and Colombia’s election monitoring, and has taught courses on electoral processes and political strategy seminars in these countries.

. In 2008 he developed a counseling program on State Reform and Capacity Building in a joint project between UNDP and the Ministry of Planning and Development of Venezuela.

. In 2010, was a central speaker at the commemoration of International Day of Democracy in the United Nations General Assembly. In the same way, was a speaker at the High Panel on Human Rights at the United Nations in Geneva in March 2015

. He assists in Madrid daily newspaper Publico and also publishes the personal blog "Eating Earth.".

. After being an active militant in the 15-M movement between 2011 and 2013, founded in 2014, the political party Podemos with Pablo Iglesias and other political scientist.
