ELECTION PROCEDURE for Board of Managers

2020 ELECTION PROCEDURE

for Leisure Village Board of Managers

Vote casting to elect members of the Board of Managers shall be held in the Clubhouse on Saturday, January 25, 2020, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Each Board member is elected for a three-year term..

The two Election Officials are Owners who have been approved by the existing Board. Neither Election Official is a candidate for the Board of Managers in the election. An existing Board member, not being re-elected, may serve as an Election Official.

The duties of the Election Officials are to ensure that only one vote, per unit, is cast in the election; monitor absentee ballots; and count all ballots cast in a manner that ensures accuracy and voter secrecy. Counted ballots will be available for inspection immediately after results are posted on the Clubhouse door.

Nomination Procedures:

Nomination forms are obtained from the Leisure Village Office.

Any Owner who desires to seek a position on the Board of Managers obtains a nomination form, obtains appropriate signatures, signs the nomination form, and submits the completed form to the Leisure Village Office with an attached, brief resume.

Any Owner who wishes to nominate another Owner for a Board position must obtain the individual’s permission prior to obtaining signatures on a nomination form.

A nomination form is considered complete when it reflects the signatures of six different unit Owners. Of the six signatures, four of the signatures must be those of Owners that reside in different buildings. A unit Owner may sign only two (2) nominating forms during each election.

The nomination period is officially closed per the published schedule and no exceptions will be made.

The resumes of each nominee, plus absentee ballots, will be published and distributed no later than one week prior to the election held on Saturday, January 25, 2020.

Absentee Ballot:

A unit Owner may cast an absentee ballot by submitting a completed absentee ballot prior to the established voting date. To ensure the privacy of absentee ballots, the Owner shall place a completed ballot into a sealed envelope with no identifying markings. The unmarked envelope will then be placed into a different envelope on which the Owner lists their name and address. The protected ballot will then be submitted to the Office.

The Office will accept the sealed, marked envelope after confirming the ballot is being cast by a legal, valid unit Owner, and will then annotate in a current directory that a vote has been cast for that unit. The unopened absentee ballots and annotated directory shall be contained in a secure area.

On election day, the Office will submit all sealed absentee ballots, accompanied by the annotated directory, to the Election Officials.

Any owner with questions pertaining to the Leisure Village election process may contact the Office. The Office retains an approved, written procedure of the entire election process.
