The 3 C’s of Counseling

1. Consultation and Collaboration

Your counselor will consult and collaborate with teachers & school staff, psychologists & therapists, and family & community resources, in order to assist students.

Mrs. Blazek is available to meet and talk with all parents, as well. If you have any concerns about your child, please feel free to call or visit the counselor anytime. Upon request, Mrs. Blazek will help create a Behavior Plan for a student to use at school and/or at home.

If families need ongoing, private therapy Mrs. Blazek can provide a referral list.

2. Coordination

Your counselor will assess the needs of the students, parents, faculty, and school in order to develop and deliver the best services possible. The counseling program is evaluated regularly to meet these changing needs.

About your counselor. . .

Hi! My name is Amy Blazek and I have been the school counselor at Forest Lakes Elementary School since 2003. I live in Pennsylvania with my husband and three young children.

My education lies in counseling psychology. I graduated from University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Loyola College with a Master of Education in School Counseling.

I hold an Advanced Professional Certificate with the Maryland State Department of Education. I am also a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) through the state of Maryland.

Prior to Harford County, I worked for three years as an Elementary School Counselor in Anne Arundel County. Before that, I provided services as a counseling intern in three Baltimore County schools- two elementary schools and one middle school.

In addition to school counseling, I have provided mental health therapy, in a private setting, with children ages 6-21. Also, I have facilitated “Changing Families” groups with elementary children for the Harford County Family Court Services. In the past, I’ve worked as a counselor for Job Corps and Sheppard Pratt, with teens and young adults.

I look forward to working with students, parents, and staff this school year! (
