Job Description

Job Title: Elementary School Secretary II

Department: Building Level

Reports To: School Principal

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY Performs secretarial duties at the elementary level

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Composes, or transcribes from rough draft, correspondence, bulletins, memorandums, and other materials

• Compiles and files student grade and attendance reports and other school records

• Greets visitors to the school, determines nature of business, and directs visitors to their destination

• Answers telephone to provide information, take messages, or transfer calls

• Sorts and distributes school mail

• Orders and dispenses school supplies and materials

• Accepts and deposits funds for lunches, school supplies, and student activities

• Disburses funds, records financial transactions, and audits and balances student organization and other school fund accounts

• Maintain a calendar of school events

• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma with some office work and bookkeeping experience

SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common instructions, financial statements, and other written materials. Ability to respond both orally and in written form to common inquiries or complaints from parents, teachers, school patrons, and administrators. Ability to effective utilize computer software appropriate for word processing and financial record keeping. Ability to handle telephone communication sin a professional manner. ability to efficiently and effectively handle the organization of files and materials. Ability to key at 50 words per minute. Ability to work on multiple tasks.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Driver’s License
