The Board will use the survey data to inform decisions it will make on a student assignment plan for the 2017-2018 school year. You can access the survey from the CMS home page cms.k12.nc.us. Early Release Day – Tuesday, March 1stNext Tuesday, March 1st will be a CMS Early Release Day. CMS students will be dismissed 2 hours early with dismissal time beginning at 12:45 pm at McKee Road. The winning class will win a prize! Please turn them into your teacher or in the mailbox in the hallway outside the office. Be sure to label them with your teacher's name so your class gets credit. Keep collecting those Box Tops and Labels for Education and show your support for McKee and our partnering school!PTA Volunteer OpportunitiesThe Treasurer position will be open for the 2016-2017 school year. This is a very important role that involves collecting, depositing, and maintaining all funds of the PTA. If you are interested in learning more about this position, please reach out to Pam Gaither or Robyn Delmar at mckeeptapresident@, or Jeana Lee at fivelees@carolina.. We are also in need of 1-2 volunteers to serve on the Nominating Committee. The committee will meet next month to identify talented, motivated, and responsible individuals to serve as officers of the PTA. The committee will then prepare a slate of nominees for PTA officers for the 2016-2017 school year. We will be starting our celebration on February 29th with a special assembly and we will end on March 4st with a book character parade! Here are some of the items we have planned for the week: (You may want to mark your calendars)To celebrate, we will be asking students to wear something specific each day.Monday, February 29th- Wear Hornets Colors! Purple and TealTuesday,March 1st -Wear your McKee Field Trip Shirt. This is an early release day.Wednesday, March 2nd- Crazy Hat Day!Thursday, March 3rd- Crazy SOCK day!Friday, March 4th- Dress as your favorite book characterBook Character Parade- We would like for your child to dress up as their favorite book character on March 4th. We will ask that your child also bring the book that is being represented. Students will begin a parade ceremony at 8:15 am. Each grade level will parade the track (or hallways if it is raining) showing off their favorite character representations and books! Parents are welcome to attend. We will ask that you sign in at the office and report to the track to watch the parade!Trivia: We will be having trivia the week of February 29th on WMKE. Students will be able to research the answers to the questions at home. In the morning, students will drop their answer with their name and teacher in the hat with Mrs. Newsome. They must do this as they enter the building. They will not be permitted to come back after entering the classroom. We will draw a name once a day. The winner will receive a free dessert of your choice from the cafeteria! We have many other events planned for the week! We will also have a special guest that will lead our parade on Friday!
