Enlisted 29 Jun 1904; discharged 28 Jun 1907. On 7 Sept 1908 mar Catharine Szmanda who survives with two daughters, Mrs Martha Pecsi and Mrs Monica Paidle.

Born 9 Nov 1879 France; died 13 Dec 1965, age 86 of 611 N Studebaker St, died at 5 p.m. in St Joseph's Hospital. Retired from Bendix. Services held in Sacred Heart Catholic Church; burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery. His wife Mary died on 1 Mar 1959. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Emma Jankowski of Buhl Idaho, Mrs Mayorie Smith and Mrs Louise Meuleman, both of South Bend, four sons; Leo; J.C.;, Marion and John, all of SBd; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a brother, A J Dutrieux of

South Bend .

Born 3 Sept 1921; died 7 Mar 1994 age 72 of S Warren at 7:20 a.m. at home. Retired from Uniroyal Plastics in Mishawaka. Services in St Adalbert's Catholic Church; entombed in Resurrection Gardens Mausoleum in St Joseph Cemetery.

STANLEY DWORECKI

Born 14 Sept 1890 Cleveland OH; died 21 Oct 1957 of 1221 N Elmer Street, former city fireman for 28 years; died at 5:35 p.m. in St Joseph Hospital after a two week illness. Stanley was a veteran of WW I. Services at St Stanislaus Catholic Church; burial in St Joseph Polish Cemetery. On 5 Sept 1922 he married Sophie Zakrzewski who survives. He retired rom the fire department 8 years ago. Also surviving are two brothers, John of Logansport IN, and Theophil of South Bend, three sisters, Mrs Josephine Hudson of New Carlisle; Mrs Rose Kluszynski and Mrs Pearl Lechtanski

both of South Bend.

Funeral Notes; Members of American Legion Pulaski Post 357 will conduct military burial rites. Active pallbearers will be Joseph Fearkes, Lottie Wegner, Andrew Pesta, Lloyd Robinson, William Putz and Lottie Borkowski. Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Olejniczak, Clement Jaroszewski, Joseph Wegenka, Stanley Zielinski, Robert Rzepka and Edward D Smith.

SOPHIE DWORECKI - NEE Zakrzewski; w/o Stanley

Born 22 Dec 1889 Kingston NY; arrived in South Bend in 1902; died 14 Sept 1960 of 1221 Elmer, having been ill or two weeks. Services at St Stanislaus Catholic Church; buried in St Joseph Cemetery. Survivors are two brothers, Joseph and Andrew Zakrzewski and a sister, Mrs. Kathryn Cwiklinski.

Born 28 Dec 1888 Poland; and came to South Bend 52 years ago; died Jan 1957 [obit appearred 13 Jan];, of 1507 Fassnacht avenue at 11 p.m. in her home after a long lingering illness. Services at St Stanislaus Catholic Church, burial at St Joseph

Polish Cemetery. Surviving are four sons: Bert of Mishwaka ; Clem, Edward and Henry Dygulski; four daughters, Mrs Nettie Banicki, Mrs Mary Szekely, Mrs Bernice Nitka all of So Bend and Helen who lived at home; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

CLEM [BABE] DYGULSKI

Born 23 Sept 1911 in So Bend; died 11 May 1983, age 71 of 1234 N Huey St, at 5:30 p.m. in the Veterans Administration Regional Hospital in Indianapolis after an extended illness. He was a former driver and salesman for Drewry's brewery and a lifelong resident. He was an Army veteran of WW II. Services at Holy Cross Catholic Church, burial in Highland Cemetery. On 30 Nov 1940 in South Bend he married the former Lucille Voorde who survives with a daughter, Mrs Mary Jo McCoy of South Bend; a son Larry of So Bend; two grandchildren; asister Mrs Marie Szekely and a brother Henry of South Bend.

LUCILLE V DYGULSKI - NEE Voorde

Born 7 Jan 1913; died 11 Apr 1994, age 81 of Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of North Huey Street, died at 10:45 p.m. in the nursing home. She was employed in the purchasing department of Studebaker Corp for many years and was a lifelong area resident. Info on husband Clem [Babe] same as above obit as are surviving children. Holy Cross Catholic Church, burial in Highland Cemetery.

Born 10 Dec 1901 Poland and lived in So Bend the past 34 years, coming from Poland. Died 3 Dec 1985, age 83 of 1707 W Sample at 11 p.m. in her home after an illness. Services at St Casimir Catholic Church, burial in St Joseph Cemetery. On 23 Jul 1927 in Poland, as Agnes Starczyk she married Frank Dyjack who died 2 Feb 1984. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs Stephanie Jakubowski of SBd and Mrs Christine Karczewski of Warsaw IN; and 4 grandchildren.

HERMAN A DYKE

Born 27 Sept 1904 in Chicago and had lived in South Bend most of his life. died 22 Jan 1980 age 75 of 3009 Frederickson, long associated with public transportation in SBd, died unexpectedly at 5:25 p.m. in Memorial Hospital. He was the first bus driver in SBd beginning his career in 1923 with the former Cgo, SBd & Northern IN Railway. When the company bought three buses to serve as feeders for its streetcar lines in South Bend , he drove the first one on its initial run. He continued to drive buses until 1940 when he became a supervisor for Northern In Transit. When the former South Bend Public Transportation Corp took over the Northern IN Transit operation in 1968, he became assistant mgr, retiring in 1970. After his retirement from the bus company he worked for the South Bend Parking Garages and was co-owner of the Soup"r Sandwich restaurant. Services by Portate Prarie United Methodist Church; burial in Highland Cemetery. On 1 Jan 1977 he married Vernetta Staniszewski, who survives along with a daughter, Mrs Mildred Fobar of SBd, two stepdaughters, Mrs Rosemary Barson, and

Mrs Mary Pellow both of So Bend, a stepson John Staniszewski, three grandchildren, a sister, Mrs Mabel Wright of Cypress CA and a brother Frank of Camarillo CA.

EUGENE R DYKSTRA JR

Born 6 Sept 1948 in St Lois MO; died 23 May 1996, age 47 of Gates Mills Ohio, formerly of Mishawaka, died after an illness in Cleveland Clinic. He was the owner/operator of Norton's Resturarant Cleveland Heights Ohio until 1992. Services at Brunner Funeral Home in Mentor Ohio. He is survived by his wife Debbie [Dawson] Dykstra of Gates Mills; a daughter Sarah at home and a son Dustin at home. He was a graduate of Mishawaka High School and Indiana University.

Born 27 Oct 1904; died 16 May 1985, age 80 of St Paul's Retirement Home; died at 11:55 a.m. He was employed at Studebakers Corp for 27 years and retired from the SBd Water Dept in 1972 as a supervisor. He was a member of St JOseph 45 F & AM Scottist Rite Valley. He was an Army Veteran with the 13th field artillery; helped organize the SBD AA Chapter and was a deputy sheriff in the 40's. Masonic memorial serivces. On 22 Jul 1925 he married Anna W Putek who died 5 Jun 1979. Their children,Mrs Dorothy Reed of Mishawaka, Mrs Mary Scott, Mrs Irene Ege of Nashua NH, Joseph of Edwardsburg, Richard of Buchanan Mi, Ted, Louis, John and Eugene of Granger; two sisters, Mrs Clementine Cybulski and Mrs Josephine Tarnocy.

Services at St Bavo's Catholic Church. Cremation will follow. On 18 Oct 1958 as Marie Billisitz she married John Dyszkiewicz in So Bend. He survives along with a daughter, Mrs Cheryl A Wilder of Mishawaka; a son Thomas Dyszkiewicz of Kalamazoo MI; four grandchildren; two sisters, Elsie Billisitz of Mishawaka; Mrs Nancy Cretsinger of Richland MI, a brother Steve Bilisitz and her parents, Stephen and Pauline Billisitz.

Born 24 May 1951; died 20 Apr 1997, age 45 of Canterbury Drive in So Bend; passed away of an apparent heart attack in his home. He was employed by B & R OIl Co Inc and by the Target Dept store. Services at St John the Baptist Catholic Church; burial in St Joseph Cemetery. Michael served in the Navy during the Vietnan era. He is survived by his father, Bert J Dyszkiewicz and by his sister, Judith Dyszkiewicz of Bedford Texas. He bowled for Craig's 66 Service at Beacon Bowl in the commercial B League and teh Bowler's Country Club. He also played for Bleachers Sports Bar

and for B & R Oil Co softball teams in the city softball league.

On 9 Sept 1944 in So Bend he married Verna Wieczorek who survives with a daughter, Mrs Judith Messner of Elkhart IN; a son, Alan of So Bend; four grandchildren, a sister Mrs Hattie Fye of Mishawaka and a brother Stanley of So Bend.

Born 2 Dec 1917; died 8 Oct 1995, age 77 of South McPherson St; died at9:10 a.m. in St Joseph's Medical Center. He retired in 1987 from Allied Products. He was a veteran of WW II.Services at St Adalbert's Catholic Church. Entombment in Resurrection Gardens Mausoleum in St Joseph Cemetery. On 5 Sept 1942 in So Bendhe married Mary Orszulak who survives with a daughter, Mrs Spring Mary Zmudzinski of Granger; a son, Kevin Dzialakiewicz of So Bend, four grandchildren and a sister, Mrs Hattie Fye of South Bend.

Born 27 Nov 1879 Poland; came from Pennsylvania to So Bend in 1904 , 52 years ago; died 14 Sept 1956 of 921 Sancome at 5:57 a.m. in her home after a 6 months illness. Services at St Stanislaus Catholic Church; buried at St Joseph Cemetery. Her husband Joseph Dziekanski died 23 Aug 1932. Survivors are two sons, Vincent and Chester of So Bend; her daughters Mrs Natalie Koralewski, Mrs Sylvia Tomasi , Mrs Jane Grzesk and Sr Mary Jarelle CSFN, Sisters of Holy Family

of Nazareth and five grandchildren.

Born 18 Nov 1885 in Poland, he had lived in So Bend for 72 years after coming from Poland. He died 1 Dec 1980, age 95 of 1618 Florence at 4 a.m. at home after a brief illness. He was retired from Studebaker Corp where he had worked as a pattern maker. On 26 May 1909 in Poland he married Antoinette Kaczmarek who died 22 Dec 1979. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs Laura Szmyd of Ohio , Mrs Clarice Jarvis of Virginia; Mrs Angeline Michalak and Mrs Emily Cwidak, both of SBD; three sons, Edwin, Daniel and John all of So Bend; 16 grandchildren & 18 grandchildren.

ANTOINETTE DZIERLA - NEE Kaczmarek - w/o Frank

Born 14 May 1891 Gniezno Poland and had lived in So Bend most of her life; died 22 Dec 1979 age 88 of 1618 Florence, unexpectedly early today in her home Services in St Stanislaus Catholic Church, burial at St Joseph Cemetery. Her husband Joseph survives with four daughters and three sons [listed in husband's obit]; a sister Mrs Stella Muszynski and a brother Alex Kaczmarek.

FRANK DZIERLA JR

Born 11Mar 1916; died 10 Jul 1967 age 51 of 24865 State Rd 2, died at9:10 p.m. Monday in St Joseph's Hospital after a short illness. He was the manager of the Kosiba Monument Co and also was employed by So Bend Hardware Co. He was a veteran of WW II and first commander of VFW Post 8748. On 2 Jun 1951 in So Bend he married Mrs Mary Crosiar who survives along with his parents, Mr & Mrs Frank Dzierla; two sons, Patrick and Michael both at home; a stepson, James Crosiar of LaPOrte, a daughter, Mrs Frances Siewinski of Columbus Ga; six grandchildren; three brothers, Edwin, Daniel and John & four sisters, Mrs Laura Szmyd, Mrs Albert Michalak, Mrs Frank

Born 12 Jun 1884 in Konin Poland; and had lived here mostof his life; died 14 Apr 1980, age 95 of 624 S Kaley at 4 p.m. at home after a brief illness. He was the former owner/operator of Dzikowski Grocery and Meat Market which closed in 1955 after 55 years of operation. Serivces at St Mary's Polish National Church. Burial in St Joseph Cemetery. In 1912 he married Helen Lewandowski who died 2 Sept 1958. Survivng are three sons, Casimir and Bert of So Bend and Stanley Machowiak also of So Bend; 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

On 3 Jun 1936 in Chicago as Ethel G Reitz, she married Merlin M [Doba] Dziubinski who preceded her in death on 6 Dec 1993. Surviving are two sons, Merlin J [Patricia] Doba of Warren Mich; and William A [Judy] Doba of Pullman Washington, seven grand children; Tim Doba, Scott Doba, Mrs Amy [Jeff] Fortin; Mrs Susan [Paul] Orlando; Mrs Beth [Ken]

Crawford; Mrs Kristin [Brent] Chitty and Jennifer Doba; six great grandchildren and a brother, George Reitz of Rensselaer.

JOHN DZIUBINSKI

Born 19 May 1887 in South Bend; died 6 Jul 1965, age 78 of 1221 S Meade St, died in the Veterans Hospital in Marion IN on Thursday. His wife Jennie died 14 May 1965. He is survived by a sister, Mrs Helen Rydzinski of Los Angeles and several nieces and nephews in So Bdn. He was a veteran of WW I. Funeral arrangements handled by Kaniewski and sons Funeral Home are incomplete.

MRS JENNY DZIUBINSKI

So Bend Triibune - 13 Mar 1965; age 72 of 2221 Meade was found dead in her bedroom about 6 a.m. today. Dr Stanley M Koscielski deputy coroner said she died of natural causes. The body was taken to Kaniewski & Sons Funeral HOme. She is survived by her husband John.
