March 16, 2020 at 3:42:17 PM EDTResources for PT FamiliesDear PT Families:Guidance and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control, the PA Department of Health, and our State Government related to COVID-19 are rapidly evolving.? We are actively monitoring these recommendations and we will keep you informed as to how the recommendations may affect our school community.? Please be patient as our plans must be fluid in response to the ever-evolving guidance from our Federal and Local Health Authorities, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.? Please be aware that our initial 2-week closure will likely be extended based on recent CDC guidance.? We will communicate any final decision on the extension as soon as we have additional guidance from Health Authorities and the Governor.? We will continue to act out of an abundance of caution in an effort to help curb the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Please see below for important information regarding support during mandated school closures:IF YOU NEED TO RETRIEVE YOUR CHILD'S MEDICATIONDistrict nurses will be available in all schools on Tuesday, March 17 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. to allow parents to come in and retrieve any needed medications.?All medications left at school during the closure will remain secure in the Nurse’s Office.?Please contact Dr. Michael Fisher at fisherm@pt- or 724-941-6251 x7298 if you have any questions regarding medication retrieval.FOOD SERVICE SUPPORT FOR PT FAMILIESThe District will be proving Grab and Go Meal service for all PT families who are currently enrolled in the Free/Reduced Lunch Program.? Today, we are reaching out to these families regarding meal service details.Any family that is not currently enrolled, but is in need of food support, may contact Mrs. Chelsey Holloway at hollowayc@pt- or 724-941-6251 x 7209 for information on how to apply for support.? We will work with you to expedite the application process.EDUCATION RESOURCESAs you may be aware, many local districts that initially advertised remote learning or flexible instruction have pulled back the implementation of these programs.? The move to halt implementation of online and flexible instruction is in part due to the lack of clarification regarding attendance waivers and district obligations to provide full educational services to all students.? We have been, and continue to be in frequent contact with Educational Leaders, our Intermediate Unit, and our Solicitor to seek clarity regarding educational efforts that will meet our obligations to provide appropriate instruction for all of our PT students.?In the coming days, please expect communications from your child’s teachers regarding recommended academic resources for use while school is not in session.? While this work is not required and will not be graded, we recommend that students take advantage of these resources.? We anticipate new guidance from PDE regarding instructional requirements in the coming days and we will provide updates consistent with the guidance.?STAYING HEALTHYFamilies are reminded that health officials are asking everyone to work together to minimize the spread of COVID-19. The best way to protect yourself is to continue to practice good hygiene, including washing hands, covering coughs and sneezes, and keeping surfaces clean. Healthy people are also encouraged to avoid crowds and practice social distancing by staying at least six feet away from others to help limit the spread of germs. High-risk individuals and those who are ill should avoid public spaces. We appreciate your support and patience as we work through this evolving situation. ................
