Welcome to the Law School. I have provisioned your computer account with the Law School. Here is some information to assist you in settling in.

|Step One: Pheme Account – | | |

|As a new staff member, you will need to activate your Pheme account. | | |
|Enter your staff number and date of birth, tick the box to agree with the terms and | | |
|conditions and click on the Next button | | |

|Step Two: The Business School IT team look after all the IT needs for the Law | | |
|School. Your next step is to activate the Business School Account. You can do so | | |

|Step Three: If you have been allocated a computer, helpdesk can then setup your | | |
|profile on the computer, ring extension 7888 for assistance. The BITS Helpdesk is | | |
|available from 8.30am – 6.30pm Monday to Friday. You can log any IT problems via | | |

|Assignment Submission |All assignments for law units are submitted online via Uniprint or via LMS. Assignments must be |

|Employee Self Service (ESS) |Employee Self Service (ESS) allows you to view leave balances, payslips and other payroll |
| |information as well as submit leave requests, Commencing Professional Development Review (CPDR), |
| |Professional Development Review (PDR) and Performance Appraisal Report (PAR) to your supervisor. |
| |You can log into ESS using your staff ID. Your first password is based on your date of birth |
| |using the format ddmmyy. When you have successfully accessed the ESS for the first time, you |

|Exams |Unit coordinators are responsible for submitting electronic copies of exams to the Law Support |
| |office staff by the advised due date. Exams must be submitted using the template and |
| |instructions supplied by the professional staff. |
| |After marking all exam scripts are to be given to the Law Support Office staff for storage. |
| |Scripts are stored for 12 months before discarded in a secure bin. |

|Law Support Office |The Law Support Office is located on the ground floor of the old Economics and Commerce Building.|

|Learning Management System (LMS) |LMS is the online learning environment. To access LMS, please follow the attached link and login|

|Mail |Staff mail boxes are located in Room G89 in the Law Support Office. You will also find internal |
| |envelopes, fax machine and cutter. |
| |All internal and external mail can be placed in the bag hanging on the door of the room. The |

|Online Class Registration (OLCR) |OLCR is open prior to each semester for students to allocate their preferences for small teaching|
| |groups/tutorials/seminars. |

|Parking |All vehicles parking on University grounds are required to display either a current valid parking|
| |permit or a valid metered parking ticket. Parking areas and parking bays are clearly marked and |
| |require vehicles to be parked within marked pays in accordance with permit/ticket requirements. |

|Printing |IT staff will assist you to set up to print the closest printer/photocopier. If you have any |
| |issues with the printer, please send an email to support-office-law@uwa.edu.au or call 6488 2945 |
| |and staff will organise a service person to come out. |
|Professional Development Reviews (PDR) |All staff of the University must participate in professional development and performance |
| |appraisal reviews. PDR process is seen as a key strategy to support the development and |
| |retention of staff. The review is undertaken and recorded through the Employee Self Service |
| |(ESS) kiosk |
| |Commencing PDR - is to be completed by new staff within the first two months of employment or |
| |other staff taking up a new role. It is designed to assist new staff, or staff in new positions,|
| |to transition into their new roles in a smooth manner. It enables clarification of the goals, |
| |required outcomes and support that will be offered to the employee. It also provides an important|
| |forum for the supervisor and employee to develop their ongoing professional relationship. |
| |The PDR is completed by all staff and offers an annual discussion as to achievements, emerging |
| |work role changes or challenges, performance and role expectations and development strategies. |
| |The PAR is to be undertaken at least once every three years. The PAR may also be triggered at |
| |key points of an employee's career including consideration for reward and recognition. The PAR is|
| |an assessment of performance outcomes based on all aspects of the individual's performance. |
|Performance Appraisal Reviews (PAR) | |
|Research Publications |Publication information is collected in 3 parts for Socrates; publications, UWA grants; and HDR |
| |supervision and completions. |
| |UWA grants are registered and when you apply and win a grant, Socrates is updated by the research|
| |school. |
| |Information on HDR supervision and completion is generally entered into the student record system|
| |Callista and Socrates will draw this information. |
| |Research publication recording is the only area that the Faculty is responsible for. The |
| |Associate Dean (Research and Research Teaching) will provide you with guidelines on how this is |
| |to be submitted. |
|Readers |Readers are generally sold at the Co-op Bookshop. Prior to semester commencing, the professional|
| |staff will put out an email requesting readers to be submitted for printing via UniPrint. In |
| |general, we order 80% of the numbers enrolled except for intensive units. If we are short of |
| |readers, Uniprint will print additional readers in 24hours. |

|SPOT Surveys |Student Perceptions of Teaching (SPOT) Surveys are conducted every semester and is voluntary. |
| |The SPOT survey questionnaire focuses on issues related specifically to teaching. Survey forms |
| |are ordered online. The SPOT office usually supplies one master copy which will need to be |
| |photocopied according to class numbers. A student within the class should be nominated to collect|
| |the forms and bring them to the Law Support office. The student should also fill in the form on |
| |the back of the envelope. Please see the following site for more information: |

|Staff Card |You will need to go Student Administration to get your staff card 24 hours after you have |
| |activated your accounts. Please take with you some form of Photo ID with you. Once you have |
| |organised your staff card, please email the law support office on support-office-law@uwa.edu.au |
| |if you require afterhours access to the Law Building. |
|Stationery |The stationery cupboard is located in the Law Support Office. If you require some specific |
| |items, please send an email to support-office-law@uwa.edu.au |
